We recently connected with Natasha Root and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I’ll never forget the day I landed my first client. It was a moment that marked the beginning of my journey from dream to reality. Her name was Tasha Reign, and I connected with her through social media. At the time, I didn’t have any clients or a clear roadmap, but I had a vision. I remember sliding into her DMs, introducing myself and my business, and to my surprise, she was open to hearing more.
We met in a parking lot in the Valley, where I photographed her wearing my items using just my iPhone. It was far from the polished systems I have now, but in that moment, it was pure hustle. She believed in me when I was just starting out, and that belief fueled me forward.
Around the same time, I also connected with Kaili Thorne, the sister of a famous Disney star who had carved out her own successful path. She invited me to her home, and we instantly clicked. Both Tasha and Kaili took a chance on me when I didn’t have everything figured out, but they saw the bigger picture and the potential in my work. I was so nervous meeting both of these incredible women, but their support gave me the confidence to keep pushing.
My first dollar of revenue came after countless trials and errors. I remember pricing items way too low, not realizing I needed to cover overhead and other costs. But when I made my first sale—$29.50—I was over the moon. That first sale showed me that there was a market for what I was doing. It was a small win, but it represented so much more: the beginning of something real. That moment gave me the validation I needed to keep going, knowing that with time and adjustments, I could grow this business into something bigger.

Natasha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a kid from the Valley who learned the hustle early. Growing up, I always dreamed of having the finer things in life, and I worked hard to get where I am today. My path wasn’t traditional—I didn’t go to college or grow up with a clear career vision. What I did have was an unstoppable drive to be successful, even if I didn’t know exactly how to get there at first.
I entered the adult industry in 2021 after I had a dream during one of the lowest points of my life. I felt like I had hit rock bottom, and I didn’t have a clear direction. But that dream ignited something in me, and I decided to take a chance on myself. My dad played a huge role in shaping my work ethic and approach to business. I worked alongside him for many years, learning from his side businesses, which gave me a street education you wouldn’t find in any classroom. Nothing was handed to me—everything I have, I’ve earned through hard work and perseverance.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that who you surround yourself with matters. I went from hanging out with people who had no direction to connecting with those who had hustle and ambition. This shift in mindset made all the difference in where I am today. My industry isn’t easy—it’s filled with challenges and personalities that require you to remain neutral, adaptable, and always true to yourself. But that’s part of what I love about it.
What sets my business apart is that we are the only full-service company in the world selling adult memorabilia. I focus on making the lives of adult stars easier. I understand how busy and overwhelming their schedules can be, and my goal is to streamline everything for them—from managing their pages and special requests to shipping items and handling personal memorabilia. We prioritize the talent first, creating a safe and seamless way for them to connect with their fans while also making money.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come. Every time I reflect on my journey, I’m amazed by the progress I’ve made. I’ve faced moments of panic, wondering how I would keep my company afloat or what might be missing. Running a business is not for the faint of heart, and you have to be ready for the stress that comes with it. But when I look back at my life before 2021, I had no idea where my future was headed. Today, I can confidently say I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I believe that everything I’ve been through—both in business and in life—has shaped me into the person I am today. I wouldn’t change any of it. It’s taken faith, resilience, and an unwavering belief that everything happens for a reason.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started building my audience on social media, I took a very strategic approach. I began by following people I wanted to work with—those in my industry or those who could potentially become clients. Then, I went a step further by going through their followers and following people who were relevant to the industry. This helped me not only grow my network but also learn more about the space I was operating in.
It took time to build my follower base—there were no shortcuts. But one thing that really helped boost my following was getting the talent I worked with to repost my content. When you collaborate with others, especially if they have a large following, having them share your posts can make a huge difference. It increases your visibility and helps you tap into audiences you wouldn’t have reached on your own. That’s a big piece of advice for anyone starting out: make sure your collaborators help amplify your content.
That said, my business is unique in that I often get more views than followers. Since some of my audience may not want others to know they’re interested in certain content or fetishes, it’s a little tricky. But it’s important to remember that even if people aren’t following, they’re still engaging with the content.
One tool that has been a game changer for me is Canva. It allowed me to create professional, high-quality visuals without needing a graphic design background. The better your content looks, the more seriously people will take you and your brand. So, my advice to anyone just starting their social media journey: be patient, collaborate, and invest in creating visually appealing content that reflects your brand’s professionalism.

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I use Shopify for my eCommerce, and it’s been an incredible platform to work with. One of the biggest advantages is how customizable it is. Shopify offers a wide variety of apps that allow you to tailor your store to your specific needs, whether it’s for shipping, inventory management, or enhancing the customer experience.
Another big pro is their financial support. Shopify offers great loan options, which came in handy for me during a crucial time when I needed extra funding to keep things moving. Their seamless integration with payment processors and their overall ease of use have made running my business a lot more efficient.
In terms of cons, Shopify does come with transaction fees unless you use Shopify Payments, and the more your business scales, the higher the monthly fees can be if you’re using advanced features. However, the platform’s benefits—especially the ability to grow and customize—far outweigh these downsides in my view. For someone like me, running a niche business, Shopify has been the perfect fit.
