We recently connected with Ashleigh King and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashleigh, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken was deciding to leave my stable job and dive headfirst into starting The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar as a single mom. It was a scary decision, but I’ve always believed in chasing what truly makes you feel alive, and for me, that was creating memorable experiences through a unique mobile bar concept.
At the time, I was balancing the responsibilities of motherhood and the security of a steady income, but I had this burning desire to do something more—to create something of my own. I wanted to bring people together with not just drinks, but an experience that felt personal, authentic, and unforgettable. The idea of a mobile bar started to take shape, but the real risk came when I decided to take that leap.
I found a vintage horse trailer and poured everything I had into it. With the help of a good friend, who assisted with the conversion, we turned that trailer into the heart of what would become The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar. Every spare minute and dollar went into restoring and transforming it, but as a single mom, I constantly worried if I was doing the right thing for both myself and my child. There was no safety net, no guarantee of success.
But despite the fear, I pushed forward. When I officially launched, the initial months were hard—bookings were slow, and there were moments when I questioned everything. But I kept going, driven by my vision and the belief that I could make this work. Slowly, word spread, and people were drawn to the uniqueness and heart behind what I was offering.
Today, The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar is growing!. Looking back, the risk I took wasn’t just about starting a business, it was about trusting myself and stepping into my own power as a single mom and entrepreneur. Now, both new and repeat clients, enjoying their time around one of the bars I built, with a craft cocktail with herbs i grew my self, I know it was all worth it. That leap of faith has given me more than just a business—it’s given me purpose and the chance to show my child what it means to go after your dreams, no matter the odds.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, beautiful souls! I’m Ashleigh King, your go-to maestro of memorable moments and the creative force behind 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚁𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚌 𝙰𝚟𝚎𝚗𝚞𝚎 𝑴𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓. My journey didn’t start in the world of events—I actually began by traveling the country showing dogs, experiencing life on the road with a sense of adventure and independence. Growing up without much family around taught me early on the value of connection, community, and celebrating the moments that bring us together.
From those early days on the road to launching my mobile bar business, one thing has always remained true: my passion for creating unforgettable experiences. What started as a dream has blossomed into something magical—crafting not just events, but moments that feel personal, authentic, and filled with local flavor. Our crafted, herbalicious bevs are designed to bring people together, while our bars are more than just a place to grab a drink—they’re spaces to make memories.
I’ve always believed the heart of every celebration lies in the connection, which is why I pour my soul into creating one-of-a-kind mobile bar experiences that reflect the personality and dreams of every client I work with. To me, it’s more than just mixology—it’s about weaving an atmosphere that feels inviting, full of joy, and utterly unforgettable.
My mission? To ensure every guest leaves our bar with a heart a little fuller, a spirit a little brighter, and a story they can’t wait to share about an amazing party with unbelievable drinks.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most pivotal moments in my journey with The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar came during the first major event I booked—a stunning outdoor wedding I had been looking forward to for weeks. Everything was meticulously planned. The couple had trusted me with creating their perfect bar experience, complete with custom cocktails and a gorgeous setup under the open sky. This event felt like my proving ground, the moment I could show what The Rustic Avenue was all about.
But on the day of the wedding, the unthinkable happened. As the hours ticked down to the event, dark clouds rolled in, and soon, a torrential storm followed. I stood there, watching the rain drench everything we had set up—my heart sinking with every drop. It felt like all my hard work was washing away. But there was no time to fall apart.
The situation was made worse when I realized the indoor venue space was already packed with décor, seating, and guests trying to escape the rain. Moving the entire bar operation inside seemed impossible. I took a deep breath, knowing I had to find a solution—not just for me, but for the couple and their guests.
Instead of panicking, I started problem-solving. I had to think fast and act even faster. First, I reassessed the indoor space, looking for any nook or corner we could use. I collaborated with the wedding coordinator to rework the layout, moving some of the indoor décor and squeezing in the essentials. The entire bar setup had to be scaled down, but I ensured it would still feel polished and seamless.
I split my team to handle multiple tasks—one group working on shielding the outdoor bar supplies from the storm while the other helped me transport essentials indoors. We managed to set up a scaled-down but beautiful bar station in an area that was originally meant for guest mingling. At the same time, I made sure the outdoor setup wasn’t completely abandoned. We transformed what could have been a logistical nightmare into a small, charming cocktail area outside, covered by umbrellas and canopies as the storm let up.
Guests could now enjoy both spaces—an indoor bar for convenience and a unique, rustic outdoor vibe for those brave enough to weather the light drizzle. By the time the celebration kicked off, everything was in place, and the drinks were flowing. The couple was overjoyed, and no one knew the lengths we went to pull it off.
That day reinforced that resilience is about more than just pushing through adversity—it’s about staying calm, creative, and adaptive under pressure. As a single mom and business owner, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, but that storm taught me that with focus and determination, I can solve problems no matter how daunting they seem.
I carry that lesson into every event I do, ensuring that no matter what comes our way, The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar will deliver an unforgettable experience, rain or shine.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A question I had to unlearn was, “How can I make this perfect?” For a long time, I was convinced that perfection was the only path to success. Growing up, I had to raise myself in many ways, and in doing so, I developed a mindset of survival that revolved around doing things “just right.” I had learned that if I could control every detail, if I could make things perfect, I wouldn’t be at risk of failing—or worse, letting others down.
This belief served me for years. It worked. It helped me navigate life and business with a level of precision that I thought was necessary to succeed. But as I started building The Rustic Avenue Mobile Bar and balancing life as a single mom, I realized that perfectionism wasn’t helping me—it was holding me back. It made me fear mistakes and setbacks.
I had to unlock the part of myself that had always believed perfection was safety. This was where my inner child and generational beliefs came into play. I had to unlearn the idea that if something wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t valuable. I began to understand that growth and creativity thrive in imperfection, in flexibility, and in learning from the moments that don’t go as planned.
Running a business and raising a child on my own taught me that what really matters is being present, adaptable, and willing to embrace the messiness of life. Events don’t need to be flawless; they need to be filled with heart and authenticity. That’s where true connection and success come from—not from perfection, but from resilience, effort, and the willingness to keep going, even when things aren’t “just right.”
Now, I approach life and work with a mindset of progress, not perfection. I focus on delivering the best experience I can, knowing that sometimes the magic happens in the imperfections, in the moments we don’t plan for but learn from.
