We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ravenn Burs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ravenn , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Giving myself a “yes.” I wanted to develop a workshop series that taught Creative Entrepreneurs how to streamline and manage the operations side of their businesses. I conducted cold outreach for months before giving myself the “yes” that I was seeking. I self-funded and produced the workshop which was successful and is now sought after by various collegiate and professional organizations.
Ravenn , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ravenn Burs and I am the Founder of Victory Administration. My company provides remote administrative services to Creative Entrepreneurs nationwide. I started Victory after a long career as an Artist and Administrator that grew tired of seeing my fellow creatives taken advantage of due to the guilt that sometimes comes along with being paid for work that is heart-led. I have now helped Creatives across multiple industries develop processes and increase their revenue.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Do good work – The majority of my clientele has come as a result of clients speaking to members of their network about the work that I am doing.
Utilize tools – Social media, networking events (virtual and in-person), and joining communities of like minded individuals are low cost tools that can put you in front of your ideal clients.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Shortly before the pandemic, I decided to make my customer base creatives only. While I enjoyed working in various industries, supporting creatives didn’t really feel like work – I was operating in my passion and it was evident. When the pandemic began, the industry was hit…HARD… and I regretted my decision to transition. However, I rallied behind my clients and we worked together to establish plans for keeping the doors of their businesses open during financial hardship. I also worked with fellow creatives to create and participate in virtual opportunities that kept creatives not only able to pay their bills, but able to continue to create.
