We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Savage. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Hi Elizabeth , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started this organization because I was once a victim of domestic violence. I was abuse by my now ex-husband. I want this organization to give victims hope to be able to break away from the abuser and stand on their own two feet and be heard. Our programs we offer helps them to break their silence and break away. Serving the shelters I seen the lack of help for the youth so I created a program that would help them not to repeat the cycle. We named it Born with A Purpose. This helps them to deal with the emotions and not grow up to be broken adults. We offer workshops to help them deal with what they are going through and talk about it in a safe place. I hope is to decrease the percent of a repeating cycle.

Elizabeth , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Our organization was birth in April of 2011. We named it Stand Together Against Nationwide Domestic-Violence which we go by STAND for short. We are located in Arlington, TX. We connect with the families while they are in the shelter so we can build a relationship with them. Once they leave we make sure we stay connected and help them with what they may need, so that they don’t go back to the abuser. We teach them to write their own resume, to find jobs, furniture if they are needing it which most do, counseling outside the shelter, going back to school or getting their GED and we teach them financing. We help the youth with tutoring, school clothes, shoes, school supplies and also counseling. We have a mentor program called Born with a Purpose that helps the youth to find their peace and able to stop the cycle from repeating itself through them. We host many events through out the year and yes volunteers are welcome. With COVID we had to slow it down, but now we are back on it 100%. The Organization’s goal is to stop the cycle from repeating itself through generations after generations. We have hosted 10/5K to bring awareness to the community. We honor victims that have overcame domestic violence or families that have lost love ones behind this issue. We give them the platform to talk about their story. We have great things coming up we will be relaunching the 10/5K and other events so that the community can be apart of this walk and other events so together we can be the Voice for the voiceless.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what help me is really just stepping out on Faith and do my resource on what was already out there. See what I could do different and what I could bring to the table in this issues. Not being afraid to connect with people, tell my story and involved myself with other people that were in the same field. Posting, doing speaking engagements and writing a book that is on Amazon called “No Trespassing From Darkness to Light” . Serving the community and sharing what out goal is and what we do.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I believe respecting your team is very important, hearing their opinions, recognizing their hard work and trusting them on the assignments you gave them. You give them trust and they give you their 100% of their work. I live by two rules learn to listen and learn to accept opinions if you give that you will always have a dedicated team because you see them as a team not employees.
