We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Derrick Ferguson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Derrick thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

I believe being successful takes a lot of drive and self motivation. You have to be willing to put the work in even when you feel like whatever your doing isn’t working. The key is really keeping yourself busy and to always be promoting whatever it is your doing. Success never happens overnight so the more you keep working on perfecting your craft the more results you’ll be able to see.

Derrick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I got into real estate after spending years selling cars. I was one of the top car salesman in the DFW because I was very good at promoting myself and my brand. Im very good at creating marketing which is a key element when it comes to helping clients sell their homes. Most importantly i have a lot of knowledge in keep up with all trends in todays market. Im most proud of how much growth i’ve experienced in the industry and establishing a name as a realtor with it being so many other real estate agents. One of the main objectives when helping clients is to help them achieve whatever goal it is they are wanting to accomplish and navigating them through the process. I love working with people and have many years in sales which makes helping people so natural to me.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I built my audience on social media by flooding my timeline with what i do. Creating good content can build you a very solid audience. What i am learning is that being in front of the camera to where people can see a face helps a lot more then just posting houses. If you can’t learn to create content yourself its best to invest in someone who is because a lot of what is done is through social media.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Best source for new clients for me has been TikTok but i am beginning to grow an audience on Instagram as well through paid advertising.
