We recently connected with Eddie Hsia and have shared our conversation below.
Eddie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
“Mixed By Eddie” started as a vision to combine my passion for bartending with a desire to bring a unique twist to the experience of cocktails. I wanted to craft not just drinks, but moments—adding a bit of entertainment and flair to the art of mixology. My journey began by experimenting with flavors, ingredients, and presentation. As I perfected my cocktails, I realized that what sets them apart is how they look just as much as how they taste. Each drink became a blend of visual creativity and taste, designed to captivate and delight. I knew I wanted my business to reflect this, offering a service that combines top-tier cocktails with a show-stopping experience for my clients. From the first sip to the last drop, “Mixed By Eddie” is all about elevating the cocktail experience and making every event unforgettable.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
“Mixed By Eddie” began as a personal passion that quickly turned into a business driven by creativity, flavor, and a love for bringing people together. I’ve always been fascinated by cocktails—not just the taste, but the art behind crafting something truly unique. What started as mixing drinks for friends and family evolved into a deeper pursuit of creating drinks that aren’t just beverages, but experiences.
As I honed my skills, I realized I wanted to share more than just the drink; I wanted to add a layer of entertainment and visual appeal to my craft. It wasn’t enough for a cocktail to taste great—it had to look and feel like an event in itself. I began to experiment with presentation, integrating bold garnishes, vibrant colors, and even a bit of flair behind the bar.
Eventually, “Mixed By Eddie” was born. My goal is to offer clients an experience where each cocktail tells a story—crafted with care, served with style, and leaving a lasting impression. Whether it’s a private event, wedding, or special occasion, I bring a sense of excitement and artistry to every pour. What started as a hobby has grown into a full-blown venture, and I’m excited to continue sharing my passion for cocktails with everyone who values creativity, flavor, and a little bit of fun.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey that’s required both patience and persistence. When I first started “Mixed By Eddie,” I didn’t have a huge following, but I knew the key to growth was showing up consistently with content that was authentic, engaging, and reflective of my passion for cocktails.
At the beginning, I focused on making sure my posts not only showcased the drinks but also told a story. I shared behind-the-scenes footage of me mixing drinks, experimenting with new ingredients, and even making mistakes. People loved seeing the process, and that transparency really helped build trust with my followers. I also made sure my visuals were on point—whether it was the vibrant colors of a cocktail or the excitement of an event I was working at, everything had to be eye-catching.
As my following grew, I started interacting more with my audience. Responding to comments, answering questions about recipes, and showing appreciation for the support really created a community feel. I also took advantage of live sessions and stories, where I could engage with people in real time, and showcase what I do with a personal touch. Collaborating with other creatives and bartenders helped me reach new audiences too, which was a huge boost.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to stay consistent and be genuine. People can tell when you’re passionate about something, and that energy is contagious. Create content that reflects who you are and what you do, and make it visually appealing. Engage with your followers—whether you have 100 or 10,000, those interactions matter. And most importantly, be patient. Growth takes time, but if you stay dedicated and true to your vision, your audience will come.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments in my journey with Mixed By Eddie came during a private event I was bartending for. It was a high-stakes night with over 100 guests, and everything was going smoothly until, about an hour in, my equipment failed. The cocktail shaker I relied on broke, and we were out of the premium ingredients for one of the most popular drinks. It was chaos.
In that moment, I had two choices: panic or pivot. I chose the latter. I immediately switched up the menu, using what was available to craft new drinks on the spot. I quickly explained the situation to the guests, turned it into an interactive experience, and had them help me choose flavor combinations. It became a live, creative experience that guests ended up loving more than the original plan. Instead of feeling defeated, I saw this as an opportunity to showcase my adaptability and creativity in real-time.
That night taught me the power of resilience and thinking on my feet. No matter how well you plan, things can go wrong—but it’s how you handle those moments that defines your success. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and that night reinforced my belief that no obstacle is too big to overcome if you keep a level head and embrace the moment.
Resilience isn’t just about bouncing back; it’s about thriving under pressure and turning setbacks into stepping stones. That experience helped me grow my confidence as a bartender and entrepreneur, reminding me that success isn’t in perfection, but in how you respond when things go off script.
