We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Brewster a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lindsey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My style changed once I became a mom. Especially as my boys get older! I need pieces in my closet that are quick to style, but still cute. Gone are the days of getting all dressed up to go out. Now it’s ball games, school events, and quick last minute date nights! I took all of those things into consideration when coming up with a name for my business and that’s when Simply Styled was started.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been a farm girl my entire life. I was always taught how to work hard and enjoy the simple things in life. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be apart of agriculture in adulthood. I met my husband when I was 17 at a local tire Shop. He was born and raised on a family farm. We married when I was 19 and had our 1st son when I was 20.
I have always loved fashion and girly things. I quickly realized after having my 3rd son that I needed to do something that kept me in touch with my girly side I just wasn’t sure what.
One day while sitting on the tractor during fall harvest the idea popped into my head to start a little side gig making custom shirts. Shortly after fall harvest of 2022 I started my Facebook group and added some local ladies. It was October so I started with Christmas designs and everyone loved it. I quickly started adding more designs such as faith, school spirit and more. My local community has supported me so well and I will be forever grateful for that. Eventually, my business started growing by word of mouth and I started reaching more than just my local community.
After about a year of doing custom shirts, leather patch hats and dabbling in embroidery I started offering some boutique items and started a website. I love shopping for pieces that I know my customers can throw on and look cute for work or dress up and look cute for their children’s game days.
It has been so fulfilling to grow my business and build relationships with my customers. I have been able to meet so many new people and that has been great. I pride myself on sending out a great product and having exceptional customer service and making people feel welcome and finding their confidence.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I have been so blessed by customers that are willing to tag me in social media posts or share my business with their friends and family.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Social media and attending in person markets and meeting people face to face!
