Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Pitts
Hi Grace, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got into the business at 3 years old, starting with print ads and commercials. Around the same time, I began dancing and dedicated myself to it for 15 years. This early passion for dance sparked my love for the stage, leading me to participate in numerous shows and world premieres. Some of my favorite theatre credits include playing Little Red in Into the Woods and Bebe in A Chorus Line. I also cherished my time in The America Project, which was performed at the Sheen Center in NYC.
On the film side, I have had the pleasure of being part of True Detective Season 3, AR PBS TV Series, Mystery League, and several Lifetime movies. Most recently I was cast in “Good Time Charley,” a SAG-AFTRA Feature film, where I was also the Production Manager. I got a taste for the other side of the camera, and I loved it!
Realizing my deep passion for performance, I decided to pursue this path in college. This decision led me to the University of Alabama, where I am currently a BFA Acting major with a Creative Media minor. Last semester, I had the honor of being part of the university’s first feature film, Soft Spot, playing the title role. Now, I am heading into my senior year, excited for what lies ahead.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Growing up in the industry meant I had to miss out on a lot of things that typical kids get to do, like spending weekends with friends, attending school events, or just having free time. There were moments when this made me feel sad and isolated.
However, all the hard work and sacrifices have been worth it because they have led me to where I am today. The experiences and opportunities I’ve had, both on stage and in front of the camera, have been incredibly rewarding and have shaped me into the person I am now. I’ve learned resilience, dedication, and the importance of following my passion, and I wouldn’t trade those lessons for anything.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor, but my passion extends beyond just performing on stage or in front of the camera. I also enjoy being behind the scenes and getting involved in various aspects of production. In high school, I made costumes for our school plays and even learned how to create puppets. I have a love for makeup and special effects (SFX), and more recently, I discovered a passion for working on film production.
I am proud of everything I’ve done in this field, from acting roles to behind-the-scenes work. Every role and task, no matter how small, is important and contributes to the overall success of a project.
What sets me apart from others is my lifelong dedication to this craft and my versatility. I’ve been immersed in this world from a very young age, and I have developed a wide range of skills across different areas of theater and film production. I genuinely love doing anything in the field, and this broad experience makes me adaptable and resourceful in various roles.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Another thing I’d like to share, is that I’ve had the great experience of working on many projects with my brother, Corbin Pitts. We’ve collaborated on countless projects, which has been incredibly rewarding. Our most recent collaboration was “Good Time Charley,” a SAG-AFTRA film that he wrote and directed. Working closely with him has been a highlight of my career, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share these creative journeys with him.
