We recently connected with Aisha Freeman and have shared our conversation below.
Aisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I am the founder and director of a non-profit called Run Your Queendom Inc., out mission is to empower and educate girls in confidence, health, and education.
Our mission came about due to wanting every girl to truly know their worth and understand the meaning of running your Queendom. Having self esteem and confidence opens many doors and we want to see our girls 7 to 18 win. Our target population are minority girls that typically reside in low income areas. We want girls to know that regardless of your socioeconomic status you can win in your queendom.
Within each program that we offer we instill in our girls the importance of setting goals, having confidence and healthy relationships.

Aisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I consider myself a multi entrepreneur. I started off in the non profit business and have expanded from there.
I grew up in a small city called Longview, TX and shortly upon graduating high-school I went off to college in Louisiana and earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. Upon graduating I began graduate school and started working and volunteering in non profit and for profit organizations. I always enjoyed working with the youth and wanted to make an impact on a large scale. Once I graduated with my masters, I moved to Houston. TX and continued to work in the field of youth education and empowerment. After continued research and mentorship I started Run Your Queendom Inc. (RYQ). While I knew working with and for other non profits was great, I knew that I wanted to take it up a notch. RYQ is all about confidence, health and education. We want girls know their worth and walk in their greatness. We host workshops and seminars geared towards minority girls ages 7 to 18. After being in service for nearly 4 years now we have expanded our curriculum to book form , which is were Extraordinary Girl, Phenomenal World was created. This book encompasses our mission of confidence and self esteem building.
I am happy to say I strive to encourage every girl and woman I come across and know that the gateway to success is in her confidence. As an organization we have served over 500 girls in the greater Houston area and I have sold over 300 books to girls and women in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and California.
As a multiple entrepreneur it is my goal to continue to push the queendom mission and work more hands on with parents, community leaders and other non profit directors in pushing the importance of confidence for the youth of today.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is tough. I started completely fresh when building my audience. Early on I knew who my target consumer was but I knew they wouldn’t sign up. Because we work with girls 7 to 18, they don’t always know they need a confidence push but there parents do. So I began connecting with school boards, parent groups and other girl groups to connect with the customer and we took off from there.
I would advice always knowing who your target customers and consumers are. This will be different for every business. Also get familiar with what social media platforms work best for YOU, for example if Twitter isn’t working don’t use it, if Facebook works then go for it. Don’t feel obligated to use it ALL and nothing works.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Confidence building isn’t going anywhere. The average girl under the age 10 has suffered from low self esteem and this trend can often times continue until adulthood. With that statistic in mind we have built a foundation of service around building up the “whole girl”. Run Your Queendom believes that what you believe in, is a direct correlation to your outcome. We want the girls we serve to believe in their goals and dreams, but we also want to guide them in the steps it takes to get there.
In this market we believe that it takes consistency to build up a strong reputation of self esteem and confidence which is why we strive to partner with women based and youth based organizations whose mission aligns with what we do on a daily basis. Furthermore we continued to build up our programs through research and networking to ensure we provide the best for the girls we serve.
