We recently connected with Jared Daws and have shared our conversation below.
Jared, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
If there’s anything in life that I’m thankful for, it’s my parents. Growing up with 7 siblings, it took a lot from my parents to keep everything afloat. We never really had much, but we always had a roof over our head and food in our stomachs. And that was only achieved by grueling hours of hard work. My parents taught me by showing that no matter what your situation is, if you’re willing to work hard at it every day then you can make it work.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jared Daws and I’m a country music artist from New Orleans, Louisiana currently living in southern Mississippi. Growing up, I was first introduced to country music by my dad and uncle Mike. I was always infatuated with music. My father being a musician is his earlier life heavily inspired me to want to do the same. I picked up singing and guitar and started making bands with my friends when I was probably 12/13. From there I spent all of my teenage years playing in different bands and just exposing myself to industry as much as possible. It wasn’t until 2023 that I was actually able to pursue the genre that I first ever loved, country, and start making a name for myself in it. Since releasing my first song back in October of 2023, I have since performed on the news and have a song on the radio. It’s wild where life can take you when you put in the work!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Back in November of 2022, I was diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS). It’s a neurological disorder that affects the visual processing part of your brain. It causes your vision to look like TV static, makes you see double at times, causes light sensitivity, you’re hyper aware of your entire field of view.. plus tons of other symptoms including physical ones. At first, I was horrified. Imagine living life in great health for 28 years at the time to waking up like this. But as time went on, I used it as inspiration to get back to music and wrote my album and title track “Snow Below” about my experience so far with VSS.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to show people that no matter what your upbringing was and no matter what difficulties you face now, anything is possible if you’re willing to put in the work. And the way that I’m able to accomplish that and the way you are might look different, but at the end of the day any amount of effort is better than nothing. It starts with changing your mindset from thinking the path is A to B and instead realizing it’s A to Z. All of the steps in between exist and matter just as much as the rest.
