Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to E.a. Noble. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
E.A., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I am E.A. Noble and I write Queer and Diverse Fantasy for the Culture. What does that mean? It means that when a reader opens my books, they will see BIPOC, Queer, Neurodivergent, and disabled representation. I always tell people that one of my goals is to normalize diversity to the point where being Black, queer, fat, disabled, or anything else is just what it is—nothing more, nothing less. We exist, and we can be heroes too! One of my favorite stories is “Cinderella” with Brandy and Whitney Houston (R.I.P.). No one questioned why her stepsisters were Black and White with a White mother. No one questioned why the King and Queen were Black and White with an Asian son. People were just happy to see beautiful people on screen, dancing, singing, and being magical! That’s what I want: people to simply exist and be seen, heard, loved, and experienced without question and judgment.
When people pick up my books, I want them to see an amazing book that they can enjoy and get sucked into! We all have unique experiences in life, and we open these books to live in another person’s body for 200-550-plus pages, just for a little while, to get a break from living in ours. When it’s time to close an E.A. Noble’s book and the story ends, I want my readers to learn a little bit more about themselves and the world around them.
Stories have bound, molded, and shaped minds since the beginning of time.
This is why it is important to read stories with Queer, Black, BIPOC, disabled, trans, and other diverse main leads. By doing so, the reader gains more empathy and a better understanding of self and others. My mission is to connect community with Speculative Fiction that represents us all.
E.A., love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Before you read my stories, understand that I am a Queer, Black, Disabled, AuDHD Woman in America. I write stories where people in this demographic do not have to apologize for existing. They will be centered, uplifted, and heard. My journey to writing began when I wanted to see characters who looked like me in my library. My debut novel, When Blood Meets Earth is about a princess on the precipice of her bad girl era when she finds her enemy is telling her the truth and her family is telling her lies. She is a Queer main lead, and the book features BIPOC, Trans, and Poly characters. My second novel, Supersized Bubblegum is about Fat Women going on a snack hunt when one of their friends go missing during a super powered fight! The women team up with a shady duo in order to get their friend returned. And oh yea, they gain superpowers by eating bubblegum. It has found family, a character driven plot, and Fat women saving the day. My next release is Nectar and Honey. It is a contemporary college romance between a grumpy volleyball player who just learns of her diagnoses of RA and a nerdy flower boy who shows her that she is more than her disability.
My point is, I have books for everyone no matter where they are in life.
