Today we’d like to introduce you to Daverine Myers
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a love for art , food decor and luxurious experiences. My background is rooted in Hospitality and Tourism . During my studies I noticed how peaceful and content I felt doing event decor and cooking. As a born and raised Jamaican I can say growing up I wasn’t far from my kitchen at all. I was that child that kid who wanted to be around my grandmother and cousins in the kitchen. After completing my studies in 2016 I gained more experience from working in restaurants, hotels , aviation etc. Over the last 5 years I began focusing more on my journey as an entrepreneur , primarily crafting and catering. Here I am today creating my own legacy and building my own foundation for my family.
Two things I enjoy the most are the intimate dining experiences with my clients and watching my business grow over time. The journey is both personal and professional.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What’s a journey without obstacles ? Creating a work life balance as an entrepreneur has been one of my biggest challenges especially when building a business from the ground up . My days are as long as 16-18 hours and often times I have to remind myself to take a break. It also took me some time to attract the type of clients I wanted.
Building a strong team with experience, building and maintaining a social media presence, networking with the right people are just some of the few challenges I’ve faced. Nevertheless giving up is still not an option
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a private chef by profession. Myers Gourmet Kitchen focuses private dining experiences and catering . I enjoy bringing a Kool-Aid smile to my client’s faces through food . I am proud of how resilient I am. I can proudly say that I have never given up on my self and my dreams.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I would love to expand the business by offering pop up cooking classes and event planning and decor services.
