Today we’d like to introduce you to Leia Owen
Hi Leia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Officially, I started my journey in marketing as a passion project and side hustle in 2015 – gradually evolving it into a full-time career by December 2019. The initial stages involved balancing multiple roles in the part-time jobs I was juggling, but the turning point came when I fully committed my energy and efforts to digital marketing and event management.
However – my journey really started in childhood. My uncle ran a gym in Downtown Hudson that I used to play in as a kid and now has several businesses in Florida, my dad runs a business that services and sells luxury automobiles, and my grandmother runs her own boutique travel agency… so I’ve been inspired by entrepreneurs my whole life and was encouraged to pursue running my own business from a young age.
In fact, as a kid I ran lemonade stands, a jewelry-making business, and other pop-up projects; as a teen I babysat for many local families – and I was able to grow my babysitting enterprise by utilizing fridge magnets, mailers, business cards, and referral networking! My first successful event was a Tsunami relief fundraiser I coordinated at a local toy store when I was in elementary school.
Today, I specialize in empowering entrepreneurs and small businesses through personalized marketing strategies, social media campaigns, and impactful event management. By honing my processes, leveraging automation, and building a small team – I have been able to scale my business effectively and hope to continue to do so.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has certainly had its challenges. One of the significant hurdles was navigating the financial aspects of running a business, particularly pricing strategies and cash flow management. The abrupt transition to full-time entrepreneurship in late 2019, followed by the pandemic, required rapid adaptation and resilience.
Currently, I’m striving to balance making my services affordable for the brands my team and I want to collaborate with, while ensuring our work is valued, our costs are covered, and we’re not undervaluing ourselves. This year, I’m committed to educating both myself and potential clients on the true value of our services and the significant impact they can have on their businesses and organizations. This way, when I submit a comprehensive proposal it is viewed as a worthwhile investment.
Additionally, balancing professional responsibilities with personal well-being is always a challenge. Learning to delegate tasks, prioritizing self-care, and refining my processes were crucial steps in overcoming these obstacles and achieving sustainable growth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My team and I specialize in marketing strategies, social media campaigns, and event management – and we offer a comprehensive suite of services that fall under the marketing umbrella for a local business or organization. That can also include print design, website content, email marketing, brand messaging, and more – though our primary service is social media management.
Whether you’re a business owner, manager, gig worker, or influencer, your time is a valuable and non-renewable resource. Often, marketing and content creation are the last things on your mind amid managing finances, schedules, inventory, and personnel. My team and I can help you overcome this challenge, allowing you to focus on what you’re most passionate about.
Clients include small business owners, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, side-hustlers, and local organizations looking to grow. They are open to new systems and strategies. They understand the value of hiring an objective third party with particular expertise and want to invest in their business and marketing efforts. They want to refocus on their passions, grow and develop their business, or simply take a break.
We have now worked with more than 200 brands since 2015, in a range of capacities – from consulting and strategizing to outright social media management and fractional CMO services.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing the tangible impact of my work on the growth and success of my clients. Witnessing a business transform from a hidden gem to a community staple is profoundly rewarding.
I really enjoy finding connections between businesses and people or ideas, fostering collaborations between local businesses, and solving problems creatively. I am at my happiest when I can generate a bunch of unique ideas for a business owner or leader of an organization – and, of course, especially when I get paid for it!
I also find joy in continuous learning and self-improvement, whether it’s through reading, fitness, or exploring new marketing trends.
