Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Hunn
Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My son, Daylin, and I launched Pitchers Only together in Oct. 2021. He was a high school pitcher at the time and I was working a full time job in digital marketing. There was this term used in baseball called “Pitcher Only” or “PO” which meant you only pitch instead of hitting and pitching. I thought it was an interesting concept and community, and as I helped other small businesses grow through digital marketing I thought maybe there’s something here? So on the way to practices, games and training my son and I talked about ideas we could do around this. Without any experience, we decided to launch an apparel brand. It caught on quickly. I left my full time job at the end of 2023 to focus on Pitchers Only and now have our own warehouse.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Plenty of struggles. This was all new to me. I remember getting our first order of t-shirts and all the designs were crooked. I remember one of first really big sales day. We dropped our Cotton Candy Collection and it sold out in a couple of hours. As we packed the orders in our house we realized our inventory counts were off and couldn’t fulfill several orders. But it’s all part of the process. Problem solving. Learning. Figuring things out and getting better.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pitchers Only is a baseball apparel brand built for pitchers. We are unique because we focus solely on this community, offering a wide range of high quality, premium products pitchers can wear on and off the field.
