Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Denmead
Hi Chris , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always was creative and wanted to be a writer more and more. In my 20s I never found the way to express my self as someone creative. When I was 27 I started the Radio of Horror show on WCUW in Worcester MA. Eventually I came up with the idea of Gender Swapping Dracula in a graphics novel . It now has two comic books a short story collection an audio book and a possible play coming. My next big project is the tv show about Dead comic book writers and artists. and a personal story about Mental Health.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting published is the biggest problem. Self Publishing is a really big issue. Marketing your self can be exhausting, its an uphill battle. The biggest thing is editing and formatting. If you dont know alot about this then it can be a real pain. You need to partner with someone who really knows and understands formatting and such so they can help you with what the printer needs if you slf publish.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Vlada a Dracula Tale and Radio of Horror.
The graphic novel took so many years to get going after a failed attempt at a movie in 2014
Radio of Horror I keep doing every Sunday night since 2007 its almost as old as my son Xavier
I am also a film maker I work on a few things here and there. My current project is Untold Legends of Comics. its about deceased comic book writers and artists.. Its a tv show documentary. and my upcoming Sleepy Hollow documentary short film
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Ken Hunt the artist on Vlada A Dracula tale deserves WAY more credit then me he’s been a veteran in the comic industry for 30 plus years. Plus he is the cover artist on my new novel The October Twins The Ketchum Manor Murders
Tim Vigil and Tim Seeley and Jim Balent really inspire me and 2out of 3 have done great cover work for me.
Wendy Shaner gave me such great advice and been helping me edit and format my new comics when Ken was not available.
Also My cohost Actress Mel Heflin on my Supernatural Creatures and lore podcast and Mistress Zeneca FOR the dEAD TV podcast they been co-hosting with me for years
Mistress Zeneca my cohost on the Dead TV Podcast she has watched a lot of bad tv shows with me lol
Mickey my PR guy hes really helpful in setting up interviews
my late gradma Joanne Klebart pushed me to write my own comics. She really pushed me to become a writer.
Skip SHea REALLY inspires me to be a film maker
