Today we’d like to introduce you to The Cupidos
Hi The Cupidos, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our love for all things adventure especially hiking and camping started when we first started dating in 2014. It became something we just did all the time and continued when we got married and had our kids.
We had our son in 2021 and have been told by others that ‘your life will stop when you have a kid.’ With something as simple as that statement, it made us want to prove to people that you can do all your hobbies and interests even when you have a baby. So instead of giving up on our adventures, we included our boy on all our travels, road trips, hikes, camps and rafting, and that is how it all started.
We began to post all our adventures as a family on social media and this resulted in many people reaching out to us asking us for tips and tricks on how to camp, hike or travel with a baby. So we mutually decided that we would just provide all this information on our social media page as well as reviews on gears, road trips and trails to make it easily accessible to families.
This idea to inspire families to embrace the outdoors with their kids, wouldn’t be possible without our own kids; George and Charlotte. The fact that they both embraced all our hiking, camping and adventures instantly (and by instantly we mean at 3 weeks old and 2 weeks old, when they went on their first hike), made our work that much easier to provide tips and tricks to other families.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We would be lying if we said we didn’t hit some bumps along the road.
Juggling adventure, kids and a full-time job (40 – 80 hours a week at times) requires a balance of time management, flexibility and self care. As parents, especially to a now 3 year old and 6 month old, its easy for any adventure to take a backseat at times but it’s important and crucial to prioritize experiences that foster growth, connection and well-being for the kids and yourself.
One strategy that we try to do is to incorporate miniature adventures into our daily routine. This includes anything from exploring parks, to going down to the river or a mini hike near home. However, there are times where none of that is possible and we have to remind ourselves that it’s okay. With that being said, another obstacle that we sometimes face is comparing our life with others. It’s so easy to find oneself feeling guilty or having some sort of comparison happening when people’s lives online are so easily accessible.
So when it comes to our creative content we are always 100% transparent with our followers and communicate to families that you don’t always need to go on adventures. Its okay to take a break here and there because though being parents is rewarding, its not an easy job.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We provide families with ways to embrace the outdoors with their kids, no matter the age, and that its a beautiful and enriching endeavor. It’s about instilling a love for nature, building unforgettable memories and fostering a sense of wonder for both the kids and parents. On our social media page, you will find that we provide reviews on all things adventure related. We also share honest reviews with a star based rating for hikes mostly situated in the Canadian Rockies.
We are most proud of the fact that we have successfully taught our kids to love the outdoors and nature and appreciate the beauty that this world has to offer. Our toddler wants to go on hikes and adventures all the time and our 6 month old prefers to be outdoors more than indoors. In addition, we have had numerous families reach out and inquiry what hikes or trips they should do with their kids at certain locations. We even had many people from Europe make trips to Canada where we planned certain activities for them.
What sets us apart is that even though we provide reviews on hikes, camping, gear and experiences, we also provide people with authentic content; the challenges we face on a daily basis. On social media, it’s easy for people to post all about the good times but we think it’s important to post or talk about the struggles in life as well.
Even though we aren’t “famous” due to our follower count, we pride ourselves about the fact that we have helped so many families create wonderful experiences. If we can help one family, our mission is complete!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Our oldest just turned three and has now been on over 30+ hikes, many camping trips, a few airplane travels, and many roadtrips and our 6 month old has been on 12 hikes, 1 round-trip and 2 camping trips. So if there are any families that need inspiration or tips and tricks on how to include your kids in your adventures, feel free to reach out to us. We are more than welcome to help.
