We were lucky to catch up with Huong Vo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Huong, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
While I’m not an educator nor work in the realm of education any longer, I want to first commend those like my best friend, Sarah, who works hard in the education field to make a difference. Whether it’s in the classroom and/or evolving in their careers outside of it (she is now Dr. Sarah Ferguson), the time she has put into research, I know will contribute towards positive and beneficial changes. People like her and the work she is doing could change laws, programs, and even curriculum to not only help students in their schooling, but positively affect their lives/future careers. I truly believe our educators do not get paid enough for the work they do, but that’s another conversation.
Personally, I believe the top change the education system needs is to be flooded with emotional intelligence (EQ) courses.
As many are aware, our students are bombarded with a lot from life such as rapid technology advances, social media (addiction), current world events, politics, pop culture, tons of homework, mandated tests, bullying, and more. Additionally, sadly for some, on top of all the above, s/he are also dealing with abuse in their own homes. That’s a TON to deal with as a child.
EQ covers self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. To have a more fulfilling life and career, one needs to be aware of one’s emotions and understand what that means while s/he are experiencing it, know how to communicate well (especially with bullying being so prevalent), and grow social skills to interact with others.
Early on in my career, my boss I had at the time had gaslit me. While I won’t go into detail, the things he was saying to me, I believed. I ended up having the hardest time in believing in myself, which affected my work. I also questioned if I could really succeed and that way of thinking bled into my personal life. To boot, I didn’t know he was gaslighting me because I didn’t know what that was nor did I know anything about emotional intelligence.
After I met my friend, Jen Groover, at a business conference and took her EQ course, my personal and professional life evolved for the better. I not only knew how to handle my emotions, but the emotions my boss was projecting onto me. If I had known what EQ was, I wouldn’t have spent so much time (seven years to be exact) doing nothing because I didn’t believe in my abilities. Moreover, I was able to process what I was experiencing and became a better person because of it.
If you’re still wondering, “Why should I increase my EQ?” I want you to think about this: being sad, being angry, holding grudges, and not letting go (i.e. forgiveness) takes a lot of energy, YOUR energy. The question now would be, “What do you want to spend your energy on instead?”

Huong, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who have not read about me before, hi! My name is Huong. During the day, I work as a private client relations coordinator in the luxury retail industry and have two decades of customer relations/service experience under my belt. After my 9 to 5, I’m a digital content creator, entrepreneur, and intentional living advocate.
Currently, I am helping launch a startup brand in the wellness space while working on launching my own personal brand. It’s all so exciting! To be there at the beginning of something that I know will be huge while also discovering what my personal brand is, is so fun! I feel like I’m on several adventures all at once, haha!
My overall goal during my time here in earth is to teach those who are open to opportunities how to make money online. I know it sounds so shallow, right? Well, money gives you options and I want to help people have options so they can live their lives their way on their time.
I’ve always known deep down inside that I’m meant to help others in a large capacity. And I hate the idea of feeling trapped and backed into a corner with no way out. I also know many people are living that life thinking that it’s normal. It’s not. If we love comfort, it’s what we’ll choose to experience and for some like me, we do it because it’s all we know.
What I want my future clients, followers, and fans to know is that with the rise of AI, I will always bring the human aspect. My goal is to connect with you and add value to your life. My desire is to always inspire and push you to step into your identity with confidence so you can live your best and most fulfilling life.
Even if it’s just one percent, I want you to grow in every area of your life: spiritual, financial, mindset, wellness, business, all of it. When I leave you better than how I found you, I’ve truly made it! And trust me, I’m not perfect by any means, so I’m going to be learning with you along the way!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
This is a great question! A lesson I’ve had to unlearn is that I don’t have to believe/do what I’ve been told, especially when it comes to my career. Unless, I want to be a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, I don’t HAVE to go to school to do what I’m passionate about.
My mentor, Rachel Kennedy, told me that we may ask God for help (to succeed), but that He may not give it to us in the way we’d expect. Help could come from anything or anyone such as a book, podcast, or conference we attend. It can even be a future friend you’ll make down the road as your network expands.
Yes, I mean you can be successful through self-education and experience alone.
I always thought the road to success was to go to college, get a degree to get a job, work 40 years, retire, and then I could have fun.
While this is the mainstream lifestyle most people follow to succeed, it’s not the only way.
I’ve learned that I can be successful by following the clues other successful people leave behind. And what I’ve learned so far? It’s much more fun and I’ve acquired my knowledge much faster.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing my work impact someone else’s life. I believe we are all creatives to some degree and what’s so satisfying is the side-effect of being able to have an outlet to release all of my pent-up creativity/ideas!
