We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Montel Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Montel below.
Alright, Montel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes believing that you can do all things for you to be successful. Even if it’s not your main talent , you would never know until you try. Many people have tried to make me feel that I have to be good at one thing and stick to it , when I never knew what I wanted to do until I reached a point where I forced myself to learn everything that interested me so that I knew whatever felt the best is what I wanted to do. However I still didn’t let that stop me for putting everything I wanted to do or learn under one roof and that’s how I came up with The House of Fashion Killa. A Full on Glam Boutique as well as a film studio , creative space for creatives and so much more. It wasn’t easy but I wouldn’t change a thing about the experience it helps me be molded for what God has unfolded. Keep pushing and dream BIG with action you will always get results and learn from them good and or bad! And always tell yourself YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!

Montel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Montel Johnson an African American Male , 29 years of age and just recently moved from my hometown Pittsburgh PA to Atlanta GA about 6 years ago to pursue my fashion career! I am a wardrobe stylist , business owner , dance coach, music artist as well as in the Costume Department of the Local 479 union working toward being a Costume Designer for major movies/tv. I worked among a few well known celebrities and high end clients throughout my 10+ years in the fashion industry! Currently working on rebranding my very own styling collection “Fashion Killa Collection” which is a full clothing & accessory brand for all ages and genders , who takes Risk “such as myself” and kills everything that involves fashion & cosmetic beauty!! My dream is to be able to have many Glam Style studios all over the US even international touching all bases of Fashion , Beauty , Production & Entertainment to show my sense style and fashion coordination throughout each creative job I get. I’m a person that is big on giving back to the community as well as helping in the community. I had a dance team for over 9-10 years in the town that I was raised that helped me show that I can help save and neutralize the world and people around me with my positive out look on life. I want to be a advocate to show people as well as myself that you can be or do anything just believe in yourself and never keep yourself locked in one box!
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My advice I have on managing a team and maintaining a high morale is keeping open communication and respect on all levels! Also remember to know how to keep business and personal separate. And remember everyone has good and bad days we are all human just remain humble and level headed so that everyone can stay on the same page at all times.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There has been so many moments that illustrates my resilience, but the one that stood out the most has always been from a stranger when I feel like I’m at my lowest point in my life I get sent an angel to remind me how much the world needs me and too take the next step. Then my store appeared. Listen to how God speaks through strangers to get through you to make a CHANGE be the CHANGE and keep GOING!!
