Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carolina Gonzalez & Claudia Vilches. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carolina Gonzalez & Claudia Vilches, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
There are so many factors – both personal & in business – that go into what your own definition of being successful is. Many of us view success with a different perspective and have various tools of measuring what success really is to us. There is no right or wrong way to measure success and it will be different for every person you ask.
For us, success comes in waves. Although we have a bigger picture always in mind, it’s important to set smaller goals along the way. If we don’t set small goals for ourselves that eventually equate to that overarching long-term goal, it can feel as though we are working without seeing a result. Preventing burnout from wanting to do everything and be everything all at once is very common in the digital space – we always see someone doing something and ask ourselves why we aren’t doing MORE. When in reality, we all need to be doing the best we can without feeling the pressure of being like someone else.
Again, success is relative. But as long as you know what your goals are, you’re consistent, REALISTIC, and passionate – you can do absolutely anything you put your mind to.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In March 2020, we both had jobs in digital marketing and social media lined up. When the pandemic caused these jobs to be taken from us, we scrambled to find a way to move forward and The PR Influence was born. Although our company didn’t exist prior to COVID, we suffered many of its consequences and struggles. We severely underpriced our services and did many many favors in order to help other business owners who were going through their own tough time.
Because of this, we were working 16 hour days just to make ends meet because we were taking a huge pay cut. In hindsight, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am glad we were able to help those that needed it to keep their brand afloat and in doing so we created a wonderful community and credible reputation.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
These are the three most effective strategies we’ve encountered for growing clientele:
1) Always give your very best to each client/project, no matter how big or small.
People talk and you want your name to be said when there’s an opportunity. Don’t nickel and dime every little change/extra modification you do – this might seem controversial but if it’s a change that is quick and easy for you , it’s worth it to show how much you value and appreciate your clients. Always provide your clients with a great experience and a great product or service – regardless of how big or small the project is!
2) Your social media is your portfolio – use it wisely.
When we were starting out, we created brand identities for made-up companies, did many favors for free in exchange of permission to post, and consistently posted new work every day on our socials. Believe it or not, consumers are more likely to do business with a company they see a lot of (even if it seems like they don’t interact).
3) Always keep learning and invest back in yourself.
It’s so important to always find ways to better yourself, your products, or your services. Invest in yourself. Whether it’s taking courses, learning new programs, and/or finding ways to improve the overall experience for your clients, these investments will pay themselves back.
