Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quinshawn Bailey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Quinshawn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the toughest parts of scaling a business is maintaining quality as you grow. How have you managed to maintain quality? Any stories or advice?
Quality control is still something I struggle with to this day. As the owner you can’t be at 3 location checking on the food everyday. The staff you choose will be the ones you rely on to make sure the quality is up to par on a daily basis. Opening several locations across the county back to back I didn’t really even have time to spend a month or two with every crew in the beginning to assure they had everything down packed to my standards and it most definitely cost us

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well before I got into the restaurant industry I was into music. I have a platinum plaque from a song I did wit Yung Bleu and more. Music wasn’t making me any money only costing me a fortune. I tried, trucking, real estate, dog breeding and more. I actually had just taken a $30k loss in the truck industry right before this fell into my lap. I honestly was scared to try it because I didn’t know anything about restaurant only food I would eat but i tried it. I would say what sets me apart is my marketing I took the marketing from music and applied it to this.

Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
I brought a restaurant because it was smart. I looked at the monthly sales, thought about expenses and employees. I imagined how much I would market and how much I could increase the sales. We pretty much paid on a Friday I was the owner by Monday this guy was ready to go, I can’t say it always will be that easy to acquire a restaurant.

How did you build your audience on social media?
First, to build presence you need a good product. Then clear content. At first I always made food reels after a while I noticed reals just showing the customers having a good time did more engagement then just the food. Now I spend time advertising the experience.
