We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LANEshia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LANEshia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
LANEshia of The Fentress Music Group in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Our music leg of the company started in June of 2020 while being at home during the pandemic. I have always wanted to start my own music production company because I love recording and my husband is a musician and recording engineer. We have a lot to share. Some of the greatest challenges in launching during this time was the finances. We have spent a lot of money, our personal money building our recording studio and we are not done. We have invested several thousands of dollars into our studio. Although we still have so many other items to purchase, we are proud of what we have obtained so far. One of the many benefits of launching the Fentress Music Group during this time has been, seeing our dreams come true. I also believe that we have realized if you just slow down, focus, and put in the hard work, you can accomplish much more than you think you can. As far as addressing the needs of customers, our studio has also been able to help others’ dreams come true as well. We have produced a few projects for up and coming inspiring artists. We are a legit company and always steward it as such. We have grown our business by sharing consistently and producing new music. I am a recording artist in addition to the other things I do professionally. I hope you take a listen and enjoy my new music offerings. You can find my music on all digital media platforms. Simply search “Laneshia.” This is meaningful to me because it’s vulnerable, unapologetic and shares positive messages we all can afford to hear.. My website is LANEshia.com
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is LANEshia, a recording artist/voice-over artist and songwriter from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas I was born into the entertainment industry and married over into it as well. I am the daughter of a world renowned solo bass artist and my husband is an award-winning recording engineer, percussionist and producer. My entire life has been filled with music and productions. I’ve done everything from running monitors, stage management, mixing front house and singing background for other artist. I’ve always enjoyed the supporting role. I thrive in this space. In 2020, I made a decision to step out a little bit by releasing my first single, “Long Road Home.” This song sums up how I moved from the back to the front, and at first it was an uncomfortable journey. In October 2021, I released my first EP and music videos. I am very proud of it because… it is ME! I have some super star musicians and writers on this project and that makes me feel good. They let me play in the big league! You can see my music videos on my website at www.LANEshia.com. The thing that sets me apart from everyone else is, I am unique, but… so is everyone else… so ultimately, we should all be celebrating the creative offerings any artist is willing to share. I do my best to celebrate others. Another cool project I am privileged to be part of is a new app launching called MESH. You can actually go to www.TheMeshCollective.com and check out what we’re all about. In a nutshell, it is a community for creatives and there is an app that helps cultivate that. With MESH, I am also a podcast host and a few other things. I love MESH! Stay tuned, because my artistry and creativity gets the opportunity to shine in new ways with MESH.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
For someone who was always afraid of stepping out and letting the world into a place I’ve always protected, I’m here now! Releasing projects that are available on all streaming platforms is a testament of my resilience!
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe if we can all work to not be so critical and harsh of those who are bold and share their gifts, that’s a start! Why not lead with encouragement and applause?!
