We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Halfway To Neptune a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Halfway to Neptune, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you’re open to it, can you talk to us about the best (or worst) investment you’ve made. What’s the backstory and the relevant context behind why you made the investment
Best Performance
The best show that we ever played would have to be the EP release party. It was the very first concert that we headlined and hosted on our own. It was the most fun we had, especially knowing that every single person in the crowd all came to see us. We sold a total of over 300 tickets, which meant the place was crowded with fans. I think it was at that moment that we realized we were getting somewhere as a band, especially with the EP release doing so well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re Halfway to Neptune, a local Southern California teen pop-punk band. We’re inspired by bands from the likes of Paramore, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and the general 90’s-00’s alternative scene. We perform almost weekly all around the IE, LA, OC, and SGV areas, whether if its at an iconic venue, or a community show at the park. Some of our favorite venues we’ve performed at include the Whisky in Hollywood, Chain Reaction, Hotel Ziggy Hollywood, House of Blues, and the Doll Hut. Currently we have a released EP titled ‘On These Walls’, which is available to stream now on every streaming platform. Right now we are working on a full-length debut album set to be released mid-2025. We will be releasing consecutive singles beginning January 2025 in preparation for our album release. We are determined to make a name for ourselves in the pop-punk world, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a band.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategies for growing our band include exposure at performances as well as exposure from social media/streaming platforms. As stated previously, we perform very frequently which gives us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to hundreds of new faces. Each individual is an opportunity to create a new fan of the band, which is why we always announce where to stream our music and where to find us on social media at our shows. We have received tremendous support and hundreds of new followers at performances. We put emphasis on interacting with audience members before and after shows to create personal connections.
Social media has also been a great method to grow our band- especially internationally. From our Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, we have been able to connect with people from every corner of the world. From this, we have had the pleasure of appearing on radio stations in the UK, as well as being interviewed by a music journalist in Puerto Rico. We’ve received so much love from social media, including increased Spotify listeners and followers across all platforms.
Another method that has been extremely successful has been Spotify playlists. From our social media, people have discovered us and added us to community Spotify playlists, which leads to even more people discovering us off of Spotify. We are extremely grateful to say that from this we have reached over 50,000 streams on our EP in total.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Originally, the band began in 2016 with four members- two of them being current Halfway to Neptune members. We struggled with our identity as a band as we dealt with members coming and leaving, until we were down to three. Unfortunately, because of this, we had to take a break because we couldn’t perform or write music. This had begun our search for a new guitarist in order for us to get back up on our feet again. In August 2022, we found our match and we began to work our way to creating our identity as a band. This was the very beginning of Halfway to Neptune, and our resilient journey from our break to now has inspired us to keep on going and work our way up.
