We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My first excursion into music began when i was seven years old, and my mom gave me a set of drums. Before and after school, Rose would play the drums. Even though he had no prior training, the church instantly recognized his drum talent and offered him an opportunity to play for them every Sunday at the age of 15.
This piqued my interest into music permanently, as performers such as Michael Jackson, 2 Pac, Erika Badu, and Maxwell inspired me as i drove home from school. This would frequently got me into trouble, but the love for music meant that after receiving recognition for writing the best poems in my school , I began to shun critical acclaim from school officials, giving me a surreal hope that i could pursue my dream of becoming a highly sought after platinum recording artist.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
So for me, I got into this industry for the love of the music and having the freedom to express myself in a way that would set me apart from any other artist/musician out there. That being said i continued to put work into my craft perfecting my drumming, which led to me starting to write acapella poetry then also to me creating my own songs. The living situation during that time is what gave me a strong drive, this great desire for more out of my life which required me to partake in these activities daily if i wanted to call myself a professional one day. As far as what i offer to the world in terms of value is my message and mindset that i encourage thru the reflection of my life’s journey through stories i tell and values i hold myself too. More recently I’ve been in the process of becoming a ghostwriter for people who have a vision and a voice but need a little help bringing it to life. I don’t feel like i have to be selfish with my gift i feel that my creativity is channeled from an abundant source. Im most proud of having the ability to see how my music and abilities has helped touch and get people through times and difficulty. To conclude my points, anyone i work with i make sure that we create something special and make it a moment they can keep with them forever.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I feel like we should all embrace being ourselves, its too much pressure nowadays for us to fit this narrative than for us to be accepted for our natural ways of expression. This will make the music more organic because it’s coming from the heart.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I can say the most rewarding feeling is going about your day and people make it their business to let you know they appreciate your work and being the voice for the voiceless.
