We were lucky to catch up with Jondra Lowe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jondra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
True BallerZ is a travel basketball organization based in the small town of Franklin, LA. I founded True BallerZ with the goal of offering young athletes the chance to improve their skills and gain important life lessons. In a time when many kids are getting involved in negative activities, I believed that using basketball could help me connect with the youth, mentor them, and uphold the organization’s values.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jondra Lowe, and I am 34 years old from Franklin, Louisiana. I am the founder of True BallerZ, a travel basketball program entering its fourth year. Each year, I strive to apply the lessons I’ve learned to the next season to help our organization grow. In 2019, I envisioned creating this platform as basketball served as an escape for me from reality during my early twenties. I spent a lot of time on the court as a way to escape. Recognizing the positive impact basketball had on me, I decided to use it to engage kids and train them hard so that by the end of practice, they would be too tired to get into any trouble.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I firmly believe in staying true to myself, acting with genuine intentions, and upholding the organization’s values. Having a competent board to assist with decision-making and organizational management has been instrumental in building our reputation. The coaching staff and board members who share our organization’s vision have made significant contributions to the growth of True BallerZ. I strongly believe in the phrase “Iron sharpens Iron” and I cannot thank my staff enough for the time and effort they put in behind the scenes. I am delighted to announce the appointment of our executives, Nicholas Morris Sr. and co-executive Clarence Chapman III, as well as our newest board member, Dawn Lanceslin, as we continue to expand.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
To grow your social platforms, invest in your business through consistent posting. We have our own graphic designer, Ashley Marshall. In the summer of 2024, we also invested in a videographer, Huy, to capture highlights of games and practices. Consistency and a willingness to invest will help your social platforms grow.
