We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lynda Carmouche. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lynda below.
Lynda , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mama did many things right, but most notably, she introduced me to a life of purpose and faith, which has built a strong foundation that helps me move forward despite obstacles. She nurtured my gifts and talents in a way that made me feel free to explore without the pressure to perform. Many of these gifts and talents are now integral to my career as a professional speaker, coach, and therapist. Moreover, her introduction and encouragement of volunteerism fueled my desire to support and serve others. In this way, my mom laid a solid foundation that helped me discover who I am and the impact I was meant to make in the world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Lynda Carmouche, a psychotherapist, speaker, podcast host and mental wellness strategist with a passion for transforming how we approach mental health in both personal and professional settings. My journey into this field began with a deep-seated commitment to helping others heal from trauma, particularly those in high-stress environments like education, healthcare, and youth services. I’ve spent years refining my approach, which is deeply rooted in trauma-informed practices and focuses on the overall mental wellness of educators, leaders, and professionals.
Through my practice, I offer a range of services, including therapeutic interventions, mental wellness workshops, professional coaching, keynotes and consulting for organizations. What sets me apart is my holistic approach to mental wellness—addressing not just the symptoms but the root causes of burnout, stress, and emotional pain. My work integrates evidence-based therapeutic techniques with practical strategies for resilience, personal growth, and self-care.
I am particularly proud of the impact my work has had on the lives of those I serve, helping them move beyond survival to truly thriving. Whether it’s through my workshops, speaking engagements, or one-on-one sessions, I aim to empower individuals to reclaim their mental wellness, embrace their strengths, and lead fulfilling lives.
For potential clients and followers, I want them to know that my brand is about creating lasting change, fostering environments of support and understanding, and guiding individuals on a journey towards balance and authentic joy. My ultimate goal is to see people not just heal but flourish in every area of their lives.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience, for me, is not just a word—it’s woven into the very fabric of my life. Growing up in a town that Time Magazine called “the Poorest Town in the U.S.,” I learned the meaning of hard work early on. By the age of four, I was already in the cotton fields working, and this continued until I left for college.
When I approached my high school counselor, excited about the prospect of going to college, I was met with the words, “you’re not college material.” Those words could have crushed my spirit, but instead, they ignited a fire within me. I knew deep down that education was my ticket out, my path to a better life.
I entered college with a sense of determination but also a lot of uncertainty. I made mistakes—like taking all my major courses in my first semester, which almost led to my failure. No one had told me it wasn’t a good idea, but I was too determined to let that stop me. I persevered, attending classes full-time, working full-time hours, and completing a twice-weekly internship. It wasn’t easy, and there were moments when I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.
But I kept going. I refused to let the obstacles define me. Instead, they became stepping stones that built the resilience I carry with me today. My journey from the cotton fields to college taught me that resilience is about facing challenges head-on, making mistakes, learning from them, and continuing to move forward, no matter how tough the road gets.
Resilience is why I’m here today, doing the work I do, helping others find their strength and navigate their own journeys. It’s proof that where you start doesn’t determine where you can go.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation in the field wasn’t a conscious effort to do so; it was a deep-rooted commitment to genuinely see, hear, honor, and serve people who had been hurt and needed support. I never set out with the goal of building a name for myself. Instead, my focus has always been on the individuals in front of me—those carrying pain, those who felt unheard, and those who needed someone to walk alongside them through their struggles.
My reputation grew from this place of authenticity and compassion. I believe that when you approach your work with a sincere heart, with the intention of truly understanding and helping others, it resonates on a deeper level. People feel when they are being seen and valued for who they are, not just as clients or cases, but as human beings with complex emotions and experiences.
In my journey, I’ve found that when you prioritize serving people with kindness and respect, everything else falls into place. The trust I’ve built, the connections I’ve made, and the impact I’ve had all stem from this simple, yet profound approach. It’s not about the reputation itself; it’s about the lives touched and the healing that happens when people feel genuinely cared for. That’s what truly matters to me.
