We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Destine Dumetz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Destine , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but over the years, it became my comfort. I found myself writing in the mornings and sometimes late at night when creativity sparked. I’ve also recognized the value of writing with meaning, whether on topics like spirituality, the impermanence of life, or the maturation process in womanhood. About seven years ago, I began improving my writing skills, and years later, I started speaking through my podcasts. Whether crafting poetry or Instagram captions, I would meticulously refine my work to grow. I also read more poetry books for proper inspiration. As for podcasting, I just kept creating episodes—that’s how you improve. Even if you’re not great at the beginning (and believe me, you won’t be), that’s okay; those growing pains are inevitable.
Knowing what I know now, I could have invested in a private editor to save the time it took to rewrite sentences repeatedly. Regarding speaking, I could have taken the marketing aspect of my podcasts more seriously by posting more on social media to drive engagement. The most essential skills I learned in my crafts are:
1. Devotion to the craft.
2. Commitment to being God’s messenger (we all are in different ways).
3. Curiosity about my weaknesses (for example, when I published my first poetry collection, there was so much I didn’t know—it felt overwhelming. But I committed to the promise I made to myself and thought beyond just me. Knowing the collection would be in the hands of young women in constant stages of transformation, I knew I had to overcome the intricate process of publishing a book).
4. Not taking myself too seriously.
5. Being willing to grow, love, and inspire.
Obstacles that stood in the way of learning more included doubting my skills and craftsmanship. Honestly, that’s normal; what you do with that doubt is what matters. I transmuted my doubt into who God says I am. Making it less about me helps; it’s more about sharing what I’ve been called to share.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Destine Dumetz :)
Wife, devoted lover, author, model, mentor and host of the Diary Of The Devoted Podcast.
I’m the artist that reminds women their uniqueness holds the magic they’re looking for and creating in honor of God, union, and love is sacred.
Utilizing my degree in Business Marketing and layered experience nurturing women’s femininity over the years, I bridge the gap between spirituality and holistic well-being.
Over the years I’ve found that enhancing the vibrancy of your womanhood looks very similar to being the type of creative that lives heart-led. I guide women to not just see the heart in everything that they do, but to wholeheartedly tend to our roots to create a better you.
This collective feminine restoration is more than just a community of us expanding, it’s a revolution that ripples through our families first.
In 2019 I became curious about the value in sharing, writing and speaking through the medium Instagram. At that point I came from a Christian background from home but my beliefs weren’t solidified until 2021 when I encountered the love of Jesus for the first time in my adult life. As someone passionate about wellness, writing, and faith-based living, creativity has always been my guiding force. My goal is to share what resonates in my world, with the hope that others can find meaning in what truly matters too—like having a deep relationship with God.
My services include 1:1 mentorship’s and group programs. What makes my program unique is the depth in which all my services include. In a world of constant confusion and overstimulation, many of us need the reminder we are chosen, claimed, and called by God – before anything else. For example my Irreplaceable Creatrix program roots you in this remembrance. Whether you’re online business owner, heart-led creative or woman of eloquence tending to the intention of your visions, that program will meet you where you’re at on your unique walk.
The problems I solve for others often revolve around helping them re-remember who they truly are. Some women come to me seeking to reconnect to a more vibrant version of themselves after living life in a way that doesn’t align with their feminine nature. Others have felt armored for most of their lives, operating from a “Miss Independent” mindset and wish to soften their heart walls around men or life in general. Then there are those who are looking to deepen their relationship with God.
Some women desire creative support to bring their artistic visions to life, while others seek guidance in starting their own podcasts, finding the courage to share their voices even when doubt creeps in. My services are multifaceted, rooted in the hardships I’ve personally walked through, and are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the women I serve.
I’m most proud of how getting out the way and letting God direct your steps, does wonders to your surrounding community. I’m proud of the women who are courageously self-aware and choose to tend to what is or isn’t working in their lives. I’m lastly proud of all creatives, actively revolutionizing the world around them by uniquely sharing their gifts online or in person. It matters. You matter.
Linking arms with me looks like embracing the sacredness of your vessel, restoring what’s innate (your femininity) and receiving the illumination masculine appreciation brings. It is my hope that everything “I do” is led by the The Way and reflects the Truth of Yahweh.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is knowing that we are all created to create. It’s a common misconception that only some people are creative, but in reality, we all are—whether it’s through cooking, writing, music, or even bringing new life into the world. The most fulfilling part for me is honoring that creative itch, not holding myself back due to fear of being misunderstood, judged, or underappreciated. Creating is about showing up, not just for yourself, but for the world. It’s a contribution, and knowing I’m sharing something special with the gifts God has given me is incredibly rewarding.
Creating is also deeply rewarding because it’s a collective blessing. Whether you’re born with distinct gifts or have worked on a specific skill all your life, experiencing the process of creation is one of the most fulfilling feelings in the world. It’s craftsmanship—moving energy rather than just consuming it. To me, creating is a mere reflection of life itself, and that makes it all the more meaningful.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Throughout my college years, I always envisioned myself taking the unconventional route. As I sat in my major-focused marketing classes during the last two years, learning and applying myself, a part of me knew I probably wouldn’t end up in the corporate world. My degree always felt like a “backup” plan, as I was certain I would start my own business. Fresh out of college, I resolved not to make decisions based on fear or family expectations.
Then came 2020, with big life decisions looming, countless interviews, and the unexpected onset of COVID-19. In response, I quickly pivoted into sales, began working remotely while also creating sponsored content and moved to an island, fulfilling a promise I had made to myself—to explore and figure things out after four years of schooling.
After about six months in sales, I shifted gears again, enrolling in a yoga teacher training program in 2021. By the end of that year, however, I realized I no longer wanted to teach yoga. In 2022, I transitioned to mentoring women full-time, which led to publishing my first book in 2023. By 2024, I found myself modeling part-time and podcasting on the side, while continuing to offer 1:1 programs, but now more tailored to my ideal clients.
All in all, it’s been a journey full of change. I embraced each pivot and am beyond happy with where I am today. In a way, I’ve come full circle, returning to what I’ve always wanted to do, while staying true to my values and priorities as a wife.
