Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jose Mizrahi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jose, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As a young kid, I didn’t see a creative/artistic path possible or realistic. ‘It only happens in movies’ I used to think. It always seemed so distant. However, what I later realized is that the people that ‘make the movies happen’ are the same people like you and me. Someone getting coffee next to you, your next door neighbor, the girl driving down 2nd Street in traffic behind you, the guy laughing out loud in the back row of the cinema. They all come from somewhere they didn’t choose to come from. All have a family, friends, happiness, sadness, nerves, hopes. They all eat, sleep, breathe, cry, and laugh. This doesn’t mean that everybody can and will be a great actor, painter, photographer just because they want to but a great artist can come from anywhere. It’s just a matter of believing that it’s possible, knowing that you have a good chance by committing and staying true to yourself, that you’re good enough when you trust yourself and your instinct, and that there’s constantly a new lesson coming your way if you’re open to it, that will make you improve, learn, and grow.
For me, this realization came four years after graduating from Finance and Marketing in college, trying to find a normal job, to build a normal life, and just follow the ‘path’, but I realized I don’t want just to passively follow what ‘they’ told me my life should be, I want to have a life that guides me through overcoming fears, conquering dreams, doing the extraordinary, confirming anything is possible, and learning that I can. This life is harsh though, it’s non-conventional. Each artist has its story and every story is heavily different. There is no ‘How to make your life artistic’ rule book, because true and authentic art comes from within you. Art has no age, no gender. An artist’s way can come early in life or in death bed, in the form of thought, writing, or emotion. Many people never get it because they don’t let it come to them, but it is there. Each person chooses the color of their brick road en route to their Emerald City. They choose whether to walk, run, jump or crawl towards it. However you choose is ok, just choose it because you want it and not because you think it is what they think you should want. I want, I chose.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a coffee enthusiast, who likes to explore creative thinking and different solutions to one single problem. Life has different shapes and forms, and it was created by people not smarter, more creative, structured, and knowledgeable than you and me. All these things we see were done by people that learned and grew their way to where they are. I value family a lot, and try to go out of my way to call or visit my grandparents. I believe time is something precious, and even though I am human, and live in this era, I try to make the best of it. I not always succeed, but if I don’t, I try again the next day, until it’s done.

The technology is impressive, here to stay and revolutionize. The current hype is a time bomb.

Have you ever had to pivot?
It was late 2020s, still in the middle of the pandemic, everyone working from home, quarantined, and I had a job in logistics and marketing. I was called to participate in a Reality TV Obstacle Course Competition. Moved to a hotel, secluded from society, where for the next four months I would wake up every day at 4 am, get dressed, get COVID tested (yes, every day for 4 months), warm up, compete, finish shooting around 7pm, exhausted, just to get back to the hotel and work remotely on my logistics job for the next 4 hours nonstop, to go to sleep being physically and mentally sore. This situation I was in helped me see what I was capable of doing, made me realize how important time management is, how important is to keep a healthy lifestyle and that I wanted to pursue a career in the arts/entertainment industry. So after this whole journey, I thanked my previous boss at the logistics and marketing job for the opportunity and all the great lessons, and went on to walk a mysterious, yet exciting path.
