Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Natalie Jas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Natalie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I was a stay-at-home mom eager to get back to work, so I started applying for jobs and landing them. But it didn’t take long to realize that balancing a full-time job with being there for my family wasn’t going to work. That’s when I began exploring ways to make money online and stumbled upon UGC—User Generated Content.
With my business marketing background and a knack for creating organic videos, I thought this could be a perfect fit. And I was right! It didn’t take long for me to discover just how well it suited me. Now, I’m able to do what I love, stay connected with my family, and still grow a successful business from home.

Natalie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I work as a freelance creator in the marketing departments of big brands like Kizik, Yippee, and Rugs.com, to name a few. My role is essentially creating mini commercials that these brands can use as ads on social media. What makes this work so fulfilling is that I’m not just creating content—I’m a genuine consumer of these products. I use them, love them, and that makes it easy to craft testimonial-style videos because it’s all based on my real experiences.
Sometimes, I also step into the role of a spokesperson, communicating directly with their audience through well-thought-out scripts and shot lists. It all starts with market research on the brand and product, followed by the brand sending me the product to create an engaging video that drives sales and builds trust with their customers.
It’s really a genius setup—like having a full production team rolled into one, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s a win-win for the brand and for creators like me, as it allows the freedom to work from home while effectively bridging the gap between customers online and the products that solve their problems. I’ve worked with a wide range of products, from beauty and fashion to family, home goods, and wellness—you name it, I’ve probably created content for it!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
You really don’t need any capital to get started. All it takes is a little bit of research on how to craft a compelling ad. With just your smartphone, something to prop it up, and some natural lighting, you’re ready to go. That’s all I had when I started.
Over time, I invested in professional lighting, cameras, microphones, and even a teleprompter, but none of that is necessary in the beginning. These tools can give you a competitive edge, allowing you to charge more and work with bigger brands, but you can start today with what you have.
The key is to put in the research and get good at creating content. Before diving into the business side, you need to master the craft and the art of content creation. If you can do that, you’re already on your way.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When I first started, I was thrilled just to get something for free or maybe make $20 from it. I began on apps like Billo, where I learned the ropes by getting free stuff and small payments. I was so happy with that! But then I found my business coach @sociallyaziz , and she opened my eyes to the fact that this is an entire industry where I could make much more money.
With her guidance, I went from making $1,000 a month, producing tons of videos, to contracting over $7,000 a month doing way less videos—all while still being a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. My biggest flex was cutting out the middleman—the apps that connect brands to creators—and dealing directly with brands. This allowed me to pocket all the earnings.
It’s a lot of work, though. You’re not just the creative anymore; you’re also the admin, the finance person, and more. But in the end, it’s absolutely worth it.
