We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nathan / Caleb Harms. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nathan / Caleb below.
Nathan / Caleb, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
As a writer and artist coming together, who happen to be related, we hope that all our books will live on well beyond our time on this Earth and offer entertainment, hope, and creativity to those that love reading and storytelling. With our children’s books, we hope that parents will enjoy our fun characters and heart felt stories that we have worked so hard on. We also hope that we can truly plant a seed that blossoms into a love of reading for when those same kids get older. For our young reader Sci Fi Novels, we hope to bridge the gap between kids that just aren’t that much into reading and turn them into avid bookworms. The fact that we have a huge story and illustrations on every page will pull them into what we kindly refer to as “A gateway book”. With our gothic novellas, we hope that our adult readers will be transported into these strange worlds that deal with depression, trauma, hope, and love. And we hope that their lives will be better off for doing so.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We started this company in 2017. The original concept was to write a book for my (Nathan’s) son. Something that could be read to him every night and was made by his dad and uncle. This little project continued to grow from there and we enjoyed the proccess so much that we just kept going. Eventually after releasing a lot of children’s books (8 in total!), we decided that we wanted to do something even bigger. This is where the idea for our Zed & Zia sci fi series came from. A simple idea of a huge story for young reader about tiny heroes within a huge universe. After writing the book, Caleb took an immediate liking to the idea of fully illustrating the entire project and opening up our worlds to new heights. We have a 6 book plan for the series, with 3 out so far and another releasing this year, and are always working on the next book. After that, Nathan decided to challenge himself to write stories for a more adult audience. His goal was to create poetry in motion with a story that could cross various emotions and themes. Now 7 books in, these books have garnered a fairly large following of fans.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Meeting the fans in person and hearing about how much our work has meant to them.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Just putting as much creativity and love as we can into this world, and hopefully inspiring those who read our books. We’ve learned to enjoy the journey while also pushing eachother to reach our goals.
