We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Josie Falcon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Josie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m so glad you asked about that—it’s a story that’s very close to my heart. My mission, guiding women through the often turbulent journey of separation to a place of empowerment and self-discovery, didn’t just come from a professional observation; it came from a deeply personal place.
Quite a few years ago now, I found myself blindsided by an unwanted separation. It was a period filled with confusion, pain, and, admittedly, a lot of fear about the future. I remember feeling incredibly alone, despite having friends and family around. What I needed then wasn’t just sympathy but a roadmap—a way to navigate through the emotional mess and regain my sense of self and direction.
As I slowly found my footing, I realized that many other women were going through the same struggles, often silently and without adequate support. That’s when I decided that no one should have to navigate this path alone. I wanted to create a space and a program that not only offered practical guidance but also a community where women could feel understood and supported.
Every step I take in this mission is fueled by my own journey and the stories of the incredible women I’ve met along the way. It’s about turning our collective pain into power, and that’s why this mission means so much to me. It’s not just about recovery; it’s about rediscovery and reclamation of our lives.

Josie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Absolutely, I’d love to share more about my journey and what I do. I’m a podcast host and coach, specializing in helping women navigate the complex emotions and practical realities of an unwanted separation and divorce. My venture into podcasting and coaching was born from my own experiences and the realization that there was a significant need for targeted support in this area.
Before stepping into this role, I was a woman who had lived through my own unexpected separation. It had been a devastating time that truly tested my resilience. Part of my healing journey had included starting a journal and writing in it almost daily.
When COVID-19 hit in 2020, my interest in podcasting grew, and I decided to start my own show by sharing the journal entries I had written. The goal was to dissect the feelings in those entries, now that I was on the other side of it all. The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, with many women reaching out to share their stories and struggles. This connection with others inspired me to take the next step and start coaching.
My coaching services are tailored to help women rebuild their self-esteem, manage the emotional challenges of an unwanted separation, and look towards their future with confidence. My approach combines personal experience with professional training, providing both emotional support and actionable strategies.
What sets me apart is my deep personal understanding of the emotional terrain of separation and divorce, combined with a structured methodology I developed called the ‘5 Chapters to Surviving a Separation.’ This methodology guides women from the initial shock of separation through to rebuilding their lives and finding joy again. It’s not just about getting through a divorce; it’s about growing through it and emerging stronger.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built—a safe space where women can find support and solidarity. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see women not only survive their separations but thrive beyond them.
For anyone new to my work, I want them to know that my mission is deeply rooted in empathy, empowerment, and education. Whether through my podcast, coaching sessions, or online courses, the goal is to equip women with the tools they need to handle the challenges of divorce with dignity and to help them transform a painful ending into a new beginning.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes, so one of the toughest times in my life came right after my separation. I had no money, no clear career path, and suddenly, my son and I had to move into a tiny bedroom at my mom’s house. It felt like a huge step back.
One night, there was this big storm outside, and it scared my son so much he couldn’t sleep. We ended up huddled together in a closet, the only place he felt a bit safer. There I was, trying to soothe him, holding back my own tears, and wondering, “How did everything get this messed up?”
That moment in the closet was a real low point for me, but it was also when I realized I had to find a way to make things better. I decided to go back to school, no matter how hard it seemed. It wasn’t easy, juggling classes and raising my son, but I was determined to give us a better future.
Eventually, we moved into a small apartment—just ours. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a new beginning. Getting that place felt like the first real sign that things were turning around. I started to build a new life, focusing on my finances and my son, and step by step, things got better.
Now, when I share my story, it’s not just about the struggles but about pushing through when things seem impossible. I want other women to know that it’s okay to be at a low point—that’s often where your new life starts.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Of couse, i’d say losing job opportunities during the pandemic and all the uncertainty that came with it was really difficult. It was a tough time, and honestly, I was scrambling to figure out what to do next. That’s when I decided to start a podcast. I’d always wanted to share my experience with separation and divorce, hoping it might help other women feel less alone and maybe even build a community.
The podcast took off more than I expected. Women were really connecting with it, and the feedback was amazing. That’s when I realized I could do even more. I trained as a coach to help women navigate their separations more effectively, turning the podcast into a full-blown coaching business.
This whole shift wasn’t just about changing careers—it was about transforming my passion into something that could really support others. It taught me a lot about resilience and seizing opportunities, even when they come from unexpected places.
