We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Castro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back at the decisions you made early in your career, particularly whether to join a firm or start your own, do you feel you made the right choice for that stage of your career?
When I first started out, I found myself at a pivotal moment in my life. After spending 15 years in healthcare operations, where I began working at just 19 years old, I realized it was time for a change. The work no longer fulfilled me, and I felt like I had done all I could in that field. Having just had my third child, I was ready for something new.
At that time, I had recently relocated to Atlanta from New York, and a friend offered me the chance to interview at a law firm. Although I didn’t have any experience in law, I decided to take the opportunity, curious about where it might lead.
I still remember the day of the interview clearly. I arrived early, dressed my best, and waited at the receptionist’s desk to meet with the CEO. As I waited in the reception area, I started questioning my decision—this was a completely different world from healthcare.
When the CEO arrived, he greeted me and said, “Come, walk with me.” We walked across the street to a nearby restaurant, where he asked me about my professional background and thoughts on structure and processes. It was a challenging conversation, as we had different perspectives on the importance of structure. However, this only strengthened my resolve. I knew that if I joined the firm, I could bring a fresh perspective and help build the kind of operational foundation that I believed was essential for growth.
A few days later, I received a job offer. Although the salary was lower than what I was accustomed to, I decided to accept it as a new challenge. I was eager to contribute and make a difference.
From the start, I was integrated into the leadership team, where I had the privilege of working closely with the Managing Partner. He had a leadership style that was both empathetic and strong, and I quickly recognized that this was someone I could learn a great deal from. Under his mentorship, I thrived, and together, we grew the firm from 25 to over 150 employees in just four years.
Five years later, the Managing Partner offered me the opportunity to join 8 Figure Firm, a consulting firm he had started. This was a perfect fit for me, as it allowed me to apply my strengths in building firms, identifying challenges, and implementing solutions that drive growth.
Today, as a business consultant, I get to do what I love every day. I work with law firms across the nation, helping them grow their businesses, empower their teams, and make a positive impact in their communities. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my career.
Stephanie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Leadership is often confused with management, but they are distinct concepts. While management focuses on processes, systems, and structure, leadership is about inspiring people, setting a vision, and guiding teams toward that vision. Effective leaders not only manage tasks but also influence and motivate their team members to reach their full potential.
Leadership Requires Love & Grace!
