We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brian C. Hawkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brian C., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
What it takes to be successful are a few things. First and consistently knowing and believing that you are a success no matter what.
Determination and dedication to what your vision and goal is very necessary in being successful.
Focus on what you want your success to be.
Be realistic and prepared. Challenges and obstacles will happen, but you must have resilience to continue and keep going.
Having the right, positive, and encouraging support is vital to any success.
Placing yourself in the presence of other successful individuals creates a pathway of opportunity to learn from.
Success is something that only you are capable of and responsible for.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am a licensed Hair Stylist and Makeup Artist that loves what I do! I am Lead Hair and Makeup Artist for Fashion Weeks in New York, Miami, and LA.
I have editorial covers and features with some of the largest publications.
I have been on set for media networks such as: BRAVO Tv, NBC, BET, HGTV as well as crew for a few films.
I have a Celebrity Clientele that I work with on various formats.
I am an Educator and Brand Ambassador and Artist for Cricket Styling Tools and Lasio Hair Products.
I simply love what I do and I’m genuine in what I deliver in terms of my skill set and talent.
What I am proud of the most, is to maintain my name and brand in an ever-changing industry, and having longevity to still be present.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly, I’m not one to hype about social media but it’s where we are and will continue to be.
I don’t place value on how many “likes/follows” etc., that I have. That doesn’t place value on who I am and what I bring to the table.
I create content and share as I like.
If one person sees it or if 100 see it great. Either way I’m not a popularity contest. I’m a creative.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative in your experience?
The most rewarding is the independence to create what you want your journey to be. Plus, you can always re-invent yourself and find ways to grow.
