We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stevie Marie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Stevie Marie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I first knew I wanted to pursue a creative path back in 2016. My father passed away in January of 2016 when I was only 25. It was a devastating loss. It completely changed the way I viewed the world. I was in the depths of my journey through grief when I started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. I was drawn to the creativity and charisma of the people I was watching. I’ve always been a very outgoing person and I love to engage with people. I was inspired to start posting beauty related content on Instagram and YouTube. I was lucky enough to be able to completely dedicate my time to creating content and interacting with my supporters.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Stevie Marie and I create lifestyle content under the name of Ready Set Gleam. I am born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have been married to my husband, Robert for 11 years. We have two beautiful children together. I am a stay at home mom with a passion for creating content and interacting with my followers. My content has morphed over the years from strictly beauty related to being a mixture of beauty, fitness, baking, and general lifestyle content. I’m passionate about supporting local businesses and embracing my southwestern heritage. I am incredibly proud of my Hispanic heritage and I love that I live where my ancestors have lived for generations. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer back in 2012. When he was diagnosed it pushed my husband and I to take a look into all of the foods we had been eating. This was the catalyst that propelled me into a love of baking and gardening. I love to share these passions with my followers. I am proud of myself for turning my grief into a creative passion for helping people and sharing my life and story with my followers. I love interacting with people and am energized by social interactions. I’m grateful that I can do what I love and what fulfills me while also spending time with my young children.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

I started my content journey back before I was a mother. I had a lot more free time and my interests were different. I’ve been able to morph my content from being strictly makeup related to being more lifestyle focused. It has allowed me to share my changing interests while not forcing me into a small niche box. I am passionate about many things and don’t want to be forced to focus on just one of them. Embrace all of your passions!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Being yourself when you’re posting content is huge. People follow you because of who you are and what your personality adds to the content you create. Interactions with your followers is vital to creating a true following. Your followers want to get to know the real you and want to feel like you also know them as well. Letting your personality shine through everything you post is what sets you apart from the crowd.
