We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bev Davies a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bev, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents were always kind and supportive. They were both potters. I was an only child, and I have one child who they took for summers when he was young. We were a small family, us 4. They passed 20 years ago but are in our thoughts often. Their pottery is on displayed in both of our homes.

Bev, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began photographing Vancouver punk rock in 1979. I was first drawn to the scene by the energy, music and kindness of those there: amazing sparks of creativity and genius, and a very good soundtrack in my head. I am still taking photos, raising my Ragdoll, Vincent, and scanning negatives from the 1970s and 80s — miles of film.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would like to have a book published of my photographs.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Buy art, decorate your surroundings with art, music and books. Society starts at home.
