We were lucky to catch up with Agostina Zampieri recently and have shared our conversation below.
Agostina, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I’ve been lucky (or smart) enough to make a living selling my art. This process was fairly quick, but didn’t happen from one day to another. During winter of 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, I shyly posted a few of my drawings on Facebook marketplace. I have never sold my art before and It was super surprised of the good feedback. I sold 20 pieces in one week and landed an interview with the local newspaper. This was a huge push into my confidence, I realized that I could peruse a career as an artist. I applied for some summer farmers markets and dropped my hours at the coffee shop I used to work at. Two years after this facebook post and doing three farmers market a weekend I was able to quit my part time job and do art full time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an architect graduated from the National University of Cordoba (Arg) and self taught artist. I am specialized in highly detailed drawings mostly using the Stippling technique.
In 2018 I started a journey that would change my life forever. A year and a half road trip from the USA to Argentina, visiting 14 countries across North and South America. The complete freedom, the constant change of scenery, and the endless amount of time for myself with a pen and notebook in my hands documenting the trip made me into the artist I am today.
This career path it’s more than I could ever dreamed of. It makes me incredible happy to see that people would hang a piece of my story in their homes and that I get to wake up every day to create.
If I am not drawing, I might be playing in the snow, reading, planning my next trip, or walking in the woods with my camera.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I love what I do and I am very passionate about my career. But the real willpower that pushes me to work hard every day it’s my passion for traveling. To experience different cultures, eat their food and meet people. To go on adventures, visit new places, learn new things. I have visited 30 countries and cannot wait to explore every corner of the world, and of course draw it.
Today my drawings from around the world are funding my trips, and this is a dream come true.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being the architect of my own destiny.
Wake up every day with the chance to choose how I want to spend my day. Being able to appreciate and get inspired by the small moments and the simple things. To get lost in time when I’m pouring myself into a new piece. To see a white paper slowly transform into something beautiful. To see people spending time looking at my work, admiring the hours I dedicated to every detail. To see people bringing home a piece of my story.
