We recently connected with Augie Ray and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Augie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

Im taking a risk right now! Currently, I own a creative space ( subscription based) in the San Fernando Valley and I took a leap of faith, after 8 years of running what was once a recording space I decided to follow my passion’s in transitioning Hypes Studios LA in to an all in one for creatives. A place where artist, videographer, producers could have a space to develop themselves as I did when I was coming up in the music industry. We re starting new and fresh .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I AM Augie Ray is a Grammy-winning, fine audio, mixed-media visual artist, author, and hip hop professor at Cal State Northridge. He has worked with some of the music industry’s most iconic artists such as: Rhianna, Sir Elton John, Dj Mustard and more. Often defining himself as a “Pluralist” by using his skills in tandem, Augie views the world through abundance and opportunity following his mantra, “ I am all things!” With an extensive background in music production, Augie has been able to transmute his talents into visual art, opening viewers and listener alike to his raw, introspective aesthetic. Augie draws inspiration from masters such as Jean Michel Basquiat , Picasco, George Condo, and Jacob Lawrence. Through Augie’s artistic exploration, he has been able to find security and purpose in being unapologetically true to himself through all his chosen forms of expression.”

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing other creative grow beside me. I find that you only grow when you have a garden that you tend to. I love to see artist unlock things inside them they have never seen before.
