We recently connected with Jordynn Balakier and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jordynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
When I first got into the fitness industry, I was approached by a well known company in the industry, 1st Phorm. We got on a meeting and I accepted a position to be affiliated with the company. After a few weeks I quickly learned how this was more than just a company. At the time, I was in a very dark place in life. Kyle, the man behind the interview invested his personal time and energy into me. A complete stranger on the internet– he had a belief in my that nobody else including myself had. He poured countless hours into me. Listening, talking, giving advice, and constantly pushing me to my full potential. To me, this was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me- become completely invested into helping me become the best person I could be.

Jordynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began working in the fitness industry after years of mulling over what to do with my life. I always knew I wanted to help people but was never sure what that looked like. I won an instagram giveaway for a gym guide back in 2016 and that helped me tremendously build confidence and discipline within my personal life. I began to see the good taking care of myself was doing for me and immediately knew that was how I wanted to help people. I dove into the education, became certified, and started working for a local gym as an assistant/group coach instructor. After 4 years I run my own schedule of 1:1 clientele, train many young athletes, nutrition coach online- nation wide, and launched a business this year with a partner, Move Detroit. Where we go around Detroit and the Metropolitan area providing community workouts and corporate wellness events.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my business partner, Logan, after attention physical therapy for a few months. He was a PTA there, and we connected over the conversation of training as he did that on the side. One day I had some questions about the platforms he used and we met for coffee. During that meeting we got to talking about our goals and visions of where we will go within this industry and quickly discovered we are on the same exact page of one another as far as what we always dreamt of building. We began collaborating and about 5 months later, Move Detroit was born.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Build positive and fun relationships. That’s it. Pour into the people around you and create an undeniable bond and this will not only land you sale after sale, but bring you more clientele through the strongest form of referral- word of mouth.
