We recently connected with Darla Delayne and have shared our conversation below.

Darla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

The idea for my company, SHE’S C.E.O. started over 40 years ago. With education, psychology, and math degrees under my belt, I started my career life as a public school teacher, student teacher mentor, and curriculum specialist. I “retired” from teaching 4 times before I was 35 to follow my dream of time and money freedom until I finally accepted that I was not cut out to be confined to a room all day.

I loved teaching so I tried corporate training and realized what I really wanted to do was guide business owners on their personal journey of becoming the CEO of their business and not train someone else’s program but my own. Along the way, this is what I did in the businesses I owned. These included various areas of the real estate industry, direct sales, and multi-level marketing ventures as well as entertainment producing, directing, and acting. And, I did all this while raising 4 children.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

SHE’S C.E.O. offers proven structures for powerhouse business owners that will change their approach, ensuring they consistently achieve their goals and teach them how to accomplish more with less effort.

In our programs, they will also learn HOW to establish and manage a solid, profitable business that perfectly aligns with their vision. This empowers them to continuously expand and develop their business. We offer high-touch, immersive private coaching programs, economical group coaching program offerings as well as courses, trainings, and workshops.

The way I help my clients solve their problems in these programs is a little unconventional and it’s also what sets me apart from other business coaches. I use my proprietary program called Growth Driver System to help them find more time and let go of overwhelm, clear the way for finding passion in their business and not just hard work, and get aligned with their vision so they are always only doing what they want. Each client (each business owner!) is different, unique, and has a dream that they aren’t sure how to implement so each strategy is different, unique, and comes with an implementation plan. My clients tell me they feel seen.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

10 years ago I was walking down the sidewalks of New York City bawling my eyes out behind my oh-so-stylish sunglasses. I had just left the court room where they informed me that I was about to be evicted from my New York City apartment. I knew I didn’t have the money for that move and we’d lose almost everything we owned.

In that moment I knew I had to turn this around, find a way to be happy BEFORE my conditions changed and be able to time travel my way out of this hole because I had three teenage kids counting on me to do this quickly. It took me five years and even more trauma for my precious kids and me but I did it, and what’s sustained me was that in my experience I found my mission and my why… when women have money they make different decisions. So I am here to help them make that money for themselves so they have the permission to make the decisions that align with their joyful life.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

So many to choose from! This time I pivoted it was January and I’d just ended a 2-year exclusive client contract and had a non-compete so the way I’d usually set up my business wasn’t available to me. I was living in Las Vegas at the time and decided to focus on real estate coaching and speaking. I acquired several coaching contracts with real estate teams and found a way to be on a “substitute” keynote speaker list. I was so excited!!

The contracts were to begin in March… of 2020… Well, we all know what happened. Covid shut down Vegas the second week of March so no speaking as there were no conventions and real estate came to a standstill. For the second time in 3 months I had to pivot. I was a pro at the pivot so I started by just offering help to small business owners who were really struggling at the time. I was able to create some new courses and training for them that I still use today. By the end of the year, I was very clear on how and why I was starting SHE’S C.E.O.
