Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharon Oved. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sharon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Naming our company was a seamless and instinctive process for me. As a family business with the Oved name, it felt only natural to choose “L’ovedbaby.” I take immense pride in seeing our name on every garment, knowing that each item we produce carries our commitment to quality. With our logo tag on every piece, I ensure that each product meets the highest standards. I’ve woven my dedication and care into every stitch, promising you the utmost quality and safety.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Sharon, founder of L’ovedbaby, and I’m deeply grateful you’ve chosen our brand for your family. As a mom and a woman-owned, family-oriented company, we prioritize the safety and comfort of your baby in every design decision. I started this company 20 years ago from a place of love rather than business, and I’m still personally involved, replying to every email I receive and enjoying conversations with our customers.
My journey began when, just before my first pregnancy, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. In my quest for solutions, I learned about the benefits of breastfeeding and created a nursing cover for myself that led to L’ovedbaby. What started as a side project has grown into a full-time endeavor, offering organic cotton clothing to avoid cancer-causing agents in conventional farming. My mother’s battle continues to inspire my commitment to eco-friendly practices. Each garment reflects this dedication, with my last name lovingly woven on every label – in case you were wondering where that apostrophe came from. :-)
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The two driving forces that have helped us secure a good reputation in the market are research and strong relationships. We’re known for our consistency in design and quality, and for being relationship oriented…and that hasn’t changed or waivered in our 20 years in business. We don’t cut corners when it comes to quality and safety — doing much research prior to designing ANYTHING, and afterwards to ensure that we’re aware of new laws or or safety recommendations that have been passed. As for relationships, we’ve formed solid and genuine relationships with our customers (some of whom have been with us for 20 years!), our stores, who have been so loyal and supportive over the years, and our manufacturers, with whom we share a commitment to quality, safety and good design.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Yes, L’ovedbaby actually started as a “side hustle” with me selling our Nursing Cover (my first product) to friends, family, and a few strangers here and there. Eventually, it grew into a full line of cotton clothing, which we later transitioned to GOTS-certified organic cotton. After 9 years of running L’ovedbaby concurrently with my “real” job, I made a very difficult decision to leave my career as an educator at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education to focus on L’ovedbaby full time. And it’s been an incredible 11 years since!
