We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Ravitz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear from you about what you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry and why it matters.
I think the real estate industry is really oversimplified and glamorized, especially because of reality TV shows right now. These shows paint a picture of quick deals, glamorous open houses, and easy money. While they do highlight some exciting aspects of the job, they fail to show the hard work, dedication, and the emotional rollercoaster that real estate truly is.
In reality, real estate is about building relationships, understanding client’s needs, and navigating complex transactions. For instance, I once had a deal where it felt like everything was going wrong. I listed a luxury property and we received an offer the same day and everything went downhill from there. There was a leak issue that was virtually unfixable because the high-rise the apartment was located in had a broken roof rig so fixing the leak from the outside was impossible. This leak was causing mold issues and six floorboards had to be replaced but the flooring was discontinued. It was a lot of quick thinking, coordinating, and problem solving. Honestly, if I didn’t have such a good relationship with the agent on the other side, I’m not sure the deal would have gone through. This experience taught me that real estate is far from the glamorous, effortless job portrayed on TV. It’s about being there for your clients, solving problems, and going the extra mile. The satisfaction comes from knowing you’ve helped someone, not from the fleeting moments of glamour shown on screen.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Lauren Ravitz, and I’m a Luxury Director at Berkshire Hathaway based in Los Angeles. I’ve always had a passion for homes and design based on my father’s construction and real estate background, which naturally led me to this career. I offer a comprehensive range of real estate services, including buying, selling, and leasing properties. I specialize in the luxury market in Los Angeles, and I pride myself on my deep knowledge of the local neighborhoods, market trends and my deep connections for off-market opportunities. My services go beyond just closing deals; I collaborate with my client’s business managers, lawyers, and bankers to create a cohesive and united front.
One of the main problems I solve for my clients is the complexity and stress of buying or selling a property. Real estate transactions can be overwhelming, and my goal is to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. I handle all the details, from prep work and paperwork, creative and cutting edge marketing, negotiating offers and coordinating inspections, so my clients can focus on their next steps.
What sets me apart from others is my dedication to my clients and my personalized approach. I take the time to understand each client’s unique needs and goals, and I tailor my services to meet those needs. Whether it’s finding a family their dream home or helping an investor maximize their return, I’m committed to delivering exceptional results and exceeding expectations.
I’m incredibly proud of several accomplishments in my career. Recently, I co-represented the sale of a $26,995,000 house in Pacific Palisades, and I am one of the Top 10 individual agents in the Berkshire Hathaway global brand out of 50,0000 agents. Recently, I was ranked 264 out of the top 1,000 best agents in the US according to Tom Ferry, Real Trends, and the Wall Street Journal. These achievements are a testament to my hard work and dedication to my clients.
For potential clients and followers, I want you to know that I’m not just about closing deals. I’m about building relationships and providing a level of service that goes above and beyond. Whether you’re buying your first home or selling a luxury estate, I’m here to guide you through the process with professionalism, integrity, and a personal touch. My brand is all about trust, expertise, discretion and a commitment to excellence.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining strong relationships with my clients is a top priority for me. I believe that real estate is as much about relationships as it is about transactions. Here’s how I ensure I stay connected with my clients and build lasting loyalty:
I make it a point to stay in touch with my clients through personalized communication. Whether it’s a phone call, a handwritten note, or an in person meeting, I ensure my clients know they are valued and that that I am always present for them. For instance, I like to send personalized gifts after closing a deal, and I check in periodically to see how they’re settling into their new home, reminding them of home upkeep tasks and the like.
I keep my clients informed about market trends, new listings, and relevant news through newsletters and social media updates. This not only keeps them engaged but also positions me as a knowledgeable and reliable source of relevant information. I host client appreciation events where past and prospective clients can mingle, learn about the market, and enjoy themselves in a relaxed setting. These events are a great way to maintain relationships, give back to the community and to show appreciation for their trust and business.
I actively use social media to engage with my clients and followers. I share updates, tips, and behind-the-scenes looks at my work. I also make it a point to respond to comments and messages promptly, creating a sense of community and accessibility. I never miss an opportunity to celebrate with my clients. Whether it’s sending holiday cards, celebrating the anniversary of their home purchase, stopping by after a remodel or acknowledging personal milestones like a new member of the family (baby or fur baby), these gestures go a long way in showing that I care about them beyond just business.
I offer value-added services such as referrals to trusted contractors, designers, and other service providers. I also provide market analysis reports and home valuation updates to keep them informed about their property’s value. I regularly seek feedback from my clients to understand how I can improve my services. This not only helps me grow professionally but also shows my clients that their opinions and satisfaction are important to me.
Fostering brand loyalty is about building trust, providing exceptional service, and maintaining a genuine connection. By consistently going above and beyond, I strive to create a positive and memorable experience for every client, encouraging them to return to me for their future real estate needs and to refer me to their friends and family.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistency, consistency, consistency! That’s really the key. Building my reputation within the Los Angeles real estate market has been all about being dependable and consistent. I give all my clients the same service whether it’s a lease, a million dollar home, or a $30 million dollar home. I give my all, for every transaction. My clients know they can rely on me every step of the way. Any perspective client could call a past client and that’s exactly what they would tell you about me! From the initial consultation to closing day and beyond, I make myself available to answer questions, provide updates, and offer support. This level of accessibility and reliability builds trust and reassures my clients that they are in good hands.
Additionally, my in-depth knowledge of the local market has been instrumental. I stay updated on the latest market trends, neighborhood developments, and real estate regulations, ensuring that I can provide the most accurate and relevant information to my clients. This expertise not only helps in making informed decisions but also positions me as a reliable resource in the industry.
I also believe in the power of building strong relationships. I take the time to understand my clients’ unique needs and goals, tailoring my approach to meet those needs. This personalized service fosters long-term relationships and often leads to repeat business and referrals. I love when I can turn clients into friends! Word-of-mouth recommendations and testimonials from satisfied clients have been invaluable in growing my business and establishing a credible reputation in the market.
