Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Makarios Hill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Makarios, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Deciding to do a show on my own without a trainer or a coach is almost unheard of due needing consistent guidance and reassurance. Throughout the whole prep having questions about your body changing and the emotions you’re dealing with from the withdrawals of sugar, sodium or fatty acids. This was my Second show. I wanted to prove to myself that i knew my body and also to put to the test everything that ive learned over the months. The first few weeks was the hardest the consistent doubt i had of not leaning out fast enough also the feeling of being weaker then normal was taking such a mental toll on me. I had so many questions and I refused to reach out to anyone so I’ll stay up late watching YouTube videos and reading up on the anatomy of cutting weight and maintaining muscle. I have find it crazy how you can find anything online now days. All i have to say if you want to take a step out and just doing something you’ve never done if no one is supportive just know google and YouTube is your best friend. Needless to say I placed 1st in teen 1st in novice and 6th overall

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I once was the girl that did dance cardio and those at home 10min workouts from YouTube. I wanted better and quicker results so i joined a gym and after a few months of consistently showing up i started getting amazing results and i kept getting approached about showing. So i said to hell with it and just signed up and here we are now

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
No I wouldn’t at all! Cutting weight means losing strength and I’m all about being a strong female. I feel as if females now days are not pushing their body’s hard enough in the gym. Ladies we belong in the weight area among the men. Needless to say, I would have went into powerlifting which is possibly still in the future for me
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
An open mind and a closed heart! Everyone knows being a bodybuilder is 99% discipline, but there’s so much more too. you have to know the balance of when to walk away from friend groups and family that constantly breath negativity and also be able to take it when someone suggest not cutting carbs. Lol that’s the sweet side
