Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Lieffers
Hi Linda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started painting when my real job got to be too much and I wanted to take a breather. I told myself I was going to take a one year sabbatical and try my hand at painting canvases. I converted a small space in my garage to accommodate my easel and away I went. Everyday I would show up and create something…whether good or bad, I kept at it. It was so amazingly exciting getting up every morning, rushing into the garage to paint instead of dragging my feet to a job that I had outgrown years ago. I suddenly felt this new sense of being and knew that I had finally found my passion. Of course that one year ended and I couldn’t find it in me to quit something that brought me so much happiness. I needed to find a way to make this lucrative which meant finding my own authentic style and getting it out to the public. Thanks to social media and my own self discipline I eventually started creating sellable artworks. It was no easy feat but my determination kept me focused. The garage today is still my studio however I have taken over the entire space. We are now building all my own canvases and my daughter is currently starting to build frames for clients on request. I sell internationally as well as locally and have my artwork available in various galleries. I also still remain very faithful to my social media platforms for sales and refer to Instagram as my main office.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think any artist, regardless of success, have their fair share of struggles. Wether it’s dealing with the turbulent economy, the saturation of really great available artworks or just going through a creative block, life as an artist definitely has its shares of ups and downs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating large, colorful abstracted artworks which are usually noted for their vibrance yet subtle shifts in colors. I am most proud to date of designing a home in the Todos Santos area ( 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico) from the ground up and installing multiple pieces of my artwork specifically created for different spaces within the casa. I maintained the organic vibe of the home by working with much softer, earth toned hues which also mimics the surrounding desert terrain. It’s still a work in progress as construction in Mexico can always take longer than anticipated. Once the artwork is installed, I am excited to share the interior shots on my Instagram account ArtistaUnleashed!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Hopefully the art industry doesn’t get taken over by AI and there will always be a need for hand painted original paintings. I see myself in this industry for the long run and aim to better myself as an artist and get more artworks out there to every corner of the world. When you are truly passionate about what you do, it never really feels like work. I may often put in a seven day week however I would not want to change anything at the moment about my career. I wake up every morning grateful for the ability to create!
