Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Zach
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My first career was in telecommunications. I enjoyed my work and wasn’t looking for a change, but a magazine article on coaching made me reconsider everything about my job and my professional path.
It was 2005, and coaching was beginning to catch on in business and lifestyle circles. The article highlighted the skills required to become a good coach—patience, adaptability, creative thinking, and a passion for helping others. These were skills that came naturally to me and that I’d been using both personally and professionally for as long as I could remember. I felt a strong urge to use these skills to help leaders.
I enrolled in CoachU, the world’s first coach training school. Upon graduating in 2009, I started my own coaching practice. Over the years, I have refined my method and now specialize in somatic-led coaching.
In 2023, I published a book titled Somatic Awareness: Leading with Body Intelligence to help business professionals deepen their connection with themselves and others, building trust and enhancing performance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has certainly had its bumps. Early on, the struggle was that not many people knew what coaching was outside of sports coaching. Educating potential clients about the value and purpose of coaching was a significant hurdle. Fast forward to today, and coaching has become the second-fastest-growing global sector, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
However, with this growth came a new challenge: transitioning from explaining “What is Coaching” to “What is Somatic Awareness.” While the concept of coaching has gained acceptance, somatic-led coaching is still relatively new to many. My current challenge is helping people understand how integrating body intelligence can profoundly impact their professional and personal lives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Zach Coaching, LLC?
I’d love to share more about my coaching practice. My business specializes in somatic-led coaching, which integrates body awareness into the coaching process. This unique approach helps clients tap into their physical sensations to gain deeper insights and achieve holistic well-being. We address workplace stress, trauma, and burnout by fostering body intelligence through my signature 3N Model: Notice, Name, Navigate, in conjunction with traditional cognitive methods.
What sets us apart is our emphasis on the somatic awareness. While many coaches focus primarily on mental and emotional aspects, we incorporate the physical dimension, helping clients understand and leverage the wisdom of their bodies. This leads to more profound and sustainable transformations.
I am most proud of our ability to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore and overcome their challenges. Our approach has been particularly effective for leaders and professionals seeking to enhance their resilience, human relations, and overall well-being.
In 2023, I published a book titled “Somatic Awareness: Leading with Body Intelligence,” which offers practical tools and insights for business professionals dealing with stress, fear, and burnout. This book encapsulates our philosophy and provides a comprehensive guide to integrating somatic practices into daily life.
I want readers to know that our services are designed to support their growth holistically. Whether you’re looking to enhance your leadership skills, overcome professional challenges, or simply lead a more joyful and meaningful life, our somatic-led coaching can help you achieve your goals. We’re dedicated to empowering our clients with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive both personally and professionally.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, my primary goal is to make somatic awareness recognized as an essential leadership skill. I plan to expand my efforts in educating leaders about the benefits of integrating body intelligence into their practices. This involves collaborating with organizations committed to holistic leadership development to offer comprehensive learning opportunities. By partnering with like-minded companies, we can amplify the impact of somatic awareness in the corporate world.
I’m also excited to build on the momentum from my book, “Somatic Awareness: Leading with Body Intelligence.” I plan to use my podcast and webinars to delve deeper into the principles of somatic awareness and my 3N Model—Notice, Name, Navigate—providing leaders with practical tools to enhance their influence and effectiveness.
Ultimately, I envision a future where somatic awareness is a mainstream, integral part of leadership development. My mission is to ensure that leaders everywhere understand and utilize the power of body intelligence to navigate the complexities of their roles and lead with greater authenticity and effectiveness.
