We recently connected with 8 Ball Clothing and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, 8 Ball thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
We both met at a buy/sell/trade clothing company in Seattle, where we worked as buyers, formed a friendship, and discovered our love for fashion. There, we learned extensively about clothing brands, fabric qualities, authenticating designer items, and pricing to match the customer base while maintaining the store’s revenue. We were both able to successfully curate the store’s inventory and train others to do the same.
With that shared fashion knowledge and experience we realized we wanted to do it for ourselves, but better. Our focus is prioritizing people in our seattle queer community of all genders and sizes. No matter who you are or what you look like, we want you to find something you love and feel good in at an actually fair price. Understanding the importance of this has been essential in setting us apart from other similar businesses. Since starting 8 Ball Clothing, we have been able to implement these skills to make our business what it is.

8 Ball, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our curated selection is a mix of second-hand vintage and contemporary clothing, shoes, accessories and customized items. Annie is skilled at finding contemporary pieces, while Georgie specializes in vintage. Together we cover a wide range of styles, while still prioritizing the quality and condition of each item.
All of our inventory is hand-picked by the two of us. While we consider current trends and styles, we always make sure we are purchasing size-inclusive, gender-inclusive, and sustainably made fashion. We pride ourselves in having something for everyone at an affordable price. We make custom pieces like Playboy Magazine collage platform boots, customized vintage postcards, and hand-painted tees and tanks.
We sell all of our pieces at markets, pop-ups, and other events in the greater Seattle area.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Since we are a new business we’ve had to build up a following and clientele in the community. While we always hope the markets and events we vend at will be successful, we just never know the size or the audience that will be there – sometimes we’ll be there all night and make hardly anything. We still strive to have a positive attitude and hope for better at the next one. We love what we’re doing and we love the clothing we sell, so we will keep working and hope others love 8 Ball Clothing as much as we do.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For us, it’s very freeing to be able to make art exactly how we want to make it and on our terms. We’re both creatives outside of 8 Ball Clothing and those other facets help us in areas like social media, marketing, and collaborating with others in our community. Being able to use our creative voices within our work is something we have both always wanted.
