We recently connected with Briauna Donnelly and have shared our conversation below.
Briauna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
There have been many moments that have shaped my path toward birthwork, but one stands out in particular. It happened years before I officially became a doula, when I was just 12 years old and had the incredible experience of attending my sister’s birth. My mom invited me to be part of this special moment, and I’ll never forget the awe I felt watching her pursue an unmedicated birth in a hospital—a challenge even today.
I was mesmerized by her strength and grace as she brought my sister into the world. She was calm, focused, and completely confident in her ability to give birth. Witnessing that raw power and determination left a lasting impression on me. I realize now that my passion for birthwork was sparked in that very moment, and it has guided me ever since.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! I’m Briauna—a birth doula and mindfulness guide with a heart for helping families navigate the incredible journey of pregnancy and birth. My approach blends holistic well-being with the magic of mindfulness, creating an experience that feels calm, confident, and deeply connected.
My journey into birthwork has been shaped by my experiences as a yoga teacher and a first-time mom. Mindfulness was my anchor during pregnancy, helping me embrace the unpredictability of birth with trust and ease. My personal journey fuels my passion for sharing these practices with others—they truly have the power to enhance how we experience life’s most amazing moments.
Birth can be unpredictable, you don’t have to be. While my services encompass the heart of doula care- compassionate support, advocacy, comfort measures, and education- I go beyond traditional offerings by incorporating personalized mindfulness coaching. This includes guidance on breathwork, body movement, meditation, and more. Together we curate a personal practice that fits seamlessly into your daily life and serves as your anchor through pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I work with families who seek a more mindful approach to birth—those who trust their intuition, value family-centered and mother-led birth, and are ready to embrace fully present living.
What I’m most proud of is the deep trust and connection I build with my clients. Birth is sacred, and being invited into that sacred space is an absolute honor. I’m fulfilled knowing that I support families in creating a birth story that feels authentic, aligned, and uniquely theirs.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think a big part of succeeding as a doula is staying connected with other doulas. Being part of a supportive and experienced doula community has been incredibly valuable for me. In this field, you’re always growing and learning, and I’ve picked up some of the best insights from fellow doulas who share the same passion. Birthwork can be emotionally and energetically intense, so having a network of people who truly understand what you’re going through is really comforting. I’m grateful to have a community to lean on and learn from.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
