We recently connected with Lailyn Buvat and have shared our conversation below.
Lailyn, appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
“Life has to be more than this.” Those were the words I told myself when I finally decided to seriously consider quitting my corporate job and starting my own business.
On paper, I had everything: I graduated early in Caracas, Venezuela, worked for Fortune 100 companies, won international competitions, got married, bought a house. Everything seemed perfect. But deep down, I knew I was living a life built on external expectations, not my own.
In 2021, I landed a great job at a business consulting firm in the U.S. It was a learning experience, but I realized I was helping others achieve their dreams while mine remained on hold. In 2022, my body began to rebel against the stress. Dizziness, palpitations, and alarming bloodwork results forced me to confront the truth: something had to change.
That was my breaking point. I knew I had to pull the emergency brake on my life. I took a hard look at what I truly wanted. I asked myself: What do you really want to work on? How do you want to be remembered? What do you enjoy the most?
These questions led me to discover my passion for planning and strategy. I love creating campaigns, developing ideas, and working on roadmaps. Strategy was my jam. Once I found what ignited my inner fire, I knew I wanted to help others turn their dreams into reality by providing them with precise, actionable roadmaps.
It took me a year to develop my services. But when I was ready, I quit my job and embarked on this new adventure, driven by a deep sense of purpose and the excitement of helping others achieve their dreams.
Lailyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Lailyn Buvat, and I am a Project Specialist with a deep emphasis on time management and productivity. I help people in the corporate world to develop and execute roadmaps that will lead them to launch their digital businesses based on their talents and experience.
I firmly believe that every talent is monetizable, and with the right action plan, any person can create the business of their dreams. I am a purpose-driven person, and that is the kind of client I attract. I work along with people who love what they do and are looking for the fulfillment of helping others through their unique talents and skills.
Today, I specialize in helping future entrepreneurs optimize their time and resources through tailored project management solutions that I create along with the client through mentorship sessions. I offer services that include creating detailed project plans, driving project delivery from inception to completion, budget development, and more. My focus is on building efficient processes that not only meet deadlines but also enhance overall productivity toward one specific goal: creating their own online business.
What sets me apart from others in my field is my holistic approach to project management. I don’t just focus on the tasks at hand; I dig deeper to understand the true motivations and goals of my clients. I tailor strategies that not only deliver results but also align with the bigger picture of what they want to achieve. My experience with burnout has taught me the importance of balance, and I incorporate that philosophy into every project I take on.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to believe that I had to know everything, or else people would see me as “not professional enough.” Growing up, I thought that if you didn’t have all the answers, you should stay silent and figure it out on your own because “people think that you are not good at your job.” But during my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve come to realize that it’s okay—not just okay, but completely normal—not to know everything. In fact, people often appreciate it more when you ask for help.
As a project specialist, I’ve openly shared with my audience how challenging it was for me to develop my business, how overwhelmed I feel when tackling new tasks, and the mistakes I’ve made along the way. These moments of vulnerability make me human.
I had to unlearn the idea that “asking for help was a sign of weakness”. Instead, I now see it as a sign of bravery and maturity. This is especially important in entrepreneurship, where the journey can feel lonely at the start. But I’ve learned that when you ask for help and admit that, despite being skilled at what you do, you still make mistakes, it makes you more approachable. This authenticity resonates with the right clients, who connect with you on a deeper level.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

– Midset by Carol Dweck: an amazing book that made me realize how crucial the mindset is when developing a business.
– Everything is figureoutable by Marie Forleo: this book is amazing, as well as Marie. You have to power to learn and be great at anything, you just need the energy and the focus to search for the necessary tools.
Podcast in English:
– The Mel Robbins Podcast: Mel Robbins is one of my biggest inspirations. Thanks to one of her episodes I started to question myself if the life I was having was the one I truly wanted to have.
