We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eulandria Montford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eulandria, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success always begins with an initial goal, Then you develop a plan. Whether you’re planning to start a business planning to create a brand or planning to shift careers. The most prominent story I can think of in my own journey to success would be me starting model and act. I have always felt the need to be flashy and over the top when it comes to my appearance. I always have people complementing me on how I style myself and others. I was going through a crisis and took a minute to attempt to find myself. During this time, I set some goals that I wanted to accomplish as I got close to my 40th birthday. Amongst the goals that I set, I wanted to show the world my style by being on the front of a magazine cover, going to New York fashion week and acting in a movie or TV show. My plan involved me researching, analyzing and developing strategies that would make me desirable in the entertainment industry. By being strategic, I have found that networking and marketing myself are tools that will aide me in my success. I accomplished each of my goals set by walking in the Annual TLA Fashion Show(Tina Bridges) in June 2024. I also will be an assistant to a fashion designer and attending NYFW! My most recent accomplishment is being on the front cover of Fashion Illustrated Magazine(Eric Nikkon). I am proof that setting goals and following a plan gets results!!

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I was casted as an extra in the stageplay called Angel’s Palace, a true sex trafficking story, and I showed up to rehearsal and noticed that there were some voids that needed to be filled after moving through rehearsal and having a conversation with the writer and Director of the stage play, Carolyn Jones. I simply asked her, how could I help? She asked if I was serious and what capacity could I help her? I responded with, “whatever you need let me know and I’m here”. We went our separate ways and later that evening she called me and asked me if I could support her in the next rehearsal and I asked her what capacity and she asked me my skills and what I can bring to the table. After that conversation I became the Assistant Director, Set Designer, Wardrobe Stylist and created the layout for the play bill. We moved through the show without a hiccup. I always wanted to have my own production company for film and Mrs Carolyn always wanted a theater production company so we brainstorm and put our two ideas together, and it was the birth of Dynasty Mindset Theater & Production Company.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was feeling guilty for having boundaries. Being the person that seemingly has the answers to everyone’s questions can become draining most times often than not. I’ve had to be available for everyone all the time. I’ve learned that in the entertainment industry there are multiple factors that play into having a successful show; whether it’s on stage, in front of the camera or walking a fashion show. I’ve had to set boundaries early on so that the tone is set for those that I’m leading or supervising. I’ve learned throughout my years as an educator that respect is something that’s not only earned, it should be given. Once you show respect to those who are under your guidance or leadership, it is easy to create boundaries and they are not easily manipulated or disregarded.
