James, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.

Here at Permit Pushers, we serve a broad range of clients, including high end clients, however, it is our passion to serve the underserve. We often discount services for veterans, those in need, and nonprofit organizations. My wife is an administrator at. a school and prior to that, a teacher, so schools are very important to me, and we strive to serve local and regional educational institutions by providing them with professional services at competitive prices. We have worked on several projects for affordable housing for teachers, first responders, and veterans.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Permit Pushers is Arizona’s oldest and most respected Permit Expediting Service. Since 1994, we have been providing professional building and development permit services throughout the United States.

Residential, Commercial and Industrial, Manufactured, Modular or Factory Built, Permit Pushers handles them all, nationwide.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Our best source of new clients is referrals. We work on a primarily referral basis, with minimal marketing. We also receive many repeat customers, which we love, because the best feedback is a referral or repeat business!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I have started a few businesses, and my first business was a “planning” only business, providing services to businesses that needed a special use permit, zoning map change, or other entitlement. This business worked well for me when I was based out of Phoenix, AZ, but my wife and I wanted to move back to our small town, Prescott, AZ, and moving up here made the business as it was unsustainable. Combining this service model with permitting has provided a sustainable model for us.
