We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jexy Nichole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jexy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.

The first opportunity I received was a speaking engagement at a PCOS convention. I was first contacted via social media and it definitely was a pleasant surprise. I gladly accepted the opportunity, after researching the organization hosting the convention. This was during the pandemic, so It was virtual, and I spoke on a panel called “The Fireside Chat”. As I entered the chat and everyone introduced themselves, I began to get intimidated. I immediately began to think “how did I get picked to converse alongside doctors and sex experts?” I was a new sex confidence coach and I never expected such an awesome opportunity so soon. As the chat continued and I entered the conversation, I began to feel more confident and realized that I did belong here. Shortly after the conference ended, I got a call from the organizer of the event telling me how great I handled myself and how much she enjoyed me on the panel. She then offered me the opportunity to do next year’s convention. I never expected this opportunity, let alone to be asked back. It was a very surreal experience. One that opened my eyes and made me more driven and aware of where I can expand my business. Although the night was short lived, I felt confident and encouraged that I was walking in my purpose.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

As a Houston based certified Sex Confidence Coach I also provide tips for sex positivity and body literacy through all of life’s stages. My services are for all sexes, however, one of my passions includes educating women about finding power in their Sex-fidence. Who knew loving myself and my sexuality would turn into my business.

  When it comes to sex, our curiosity is one of the most essential and mysterious aspects of our personhood. It has been stunted and shamed over time through religious or/& family culture. How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I know that people have this negative thought about this advertising space and how it can be a waste of time. I feel its an unmatched free way to reach people world-wide IF you use it to your advantage. Social media really helped me tremendously, specifically, Instagram. It is how I was able to get my first speaking engagement as well as my first clients. When you are able to use these platforms in a beneficial and an effective way, they can be very valuable to your business.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?

Confidence is key, and I use this saying often because you have to really believe in what you are advocating for. You also must be understanding , open-minded, and non judgemental. As I previous stated, people have been conditioned to think that talking about sex outside of your spouse is a shamed upon act. The goal is to break the silence on this discussion that should never be considered frowned on for adolescents.
