We were lucky to catch up with Kellie Peach recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kellie , appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Re-launching my agency has been challenging to say the least for a number of reasons, but mostly I believe it’s because we are in a recession.
It’s an election year, inflation is wild and people are clutching their pearls right now.
It’s challenging to keep going when you get a lot of rejected proposals or when people don’t even take the time to acknowledge your emails, phone calls or visits… I have to continually remind myself that everyone has their own challenges and overwhelms… And also so many of the best, most nourishing relationships are made in person.
Finally, there are truly endless opportunities for creative people out there, it’s all just takes time, energy and motivation to trust in the process. There really is enough work to go around. There is no reason to gate keep!

Kellie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was quite young, I started curating art in San Francisco. I had no idea what I was doing, but I stumbled into my true calling and have never looked back.
Working with artists for 20 years has sculpted my life and my experience. I wouldn’t want my passion to directed any other way!
While I deeply love curating art, I am more focused on my boutique artist agency – AGENT PEACH – so I have been scaling back the shows I curate to about 1-2 a year.
My current focus is to push the group that I have selected, gotten to know, have decided to invest in.
I’m learning about how to promote our work all over the world.
I love going deep with people, and that is why I have pulled back on working with tons of different people at once at this juncture (tho I do love creating group shows very much).
I feel as the years go by, investing in people who are truly seeing themselves as artists, who want to evolve, who want to (or have) made art their lifestyle or genuinely have the hustle and drive I’ve come to expect, those are the ones who get my attention.
I currently represent 7 artists in San Francisco, Denver, Florida and New Orleans :: Alice Koswara, HiEricBro, Onerary, Lillian Aguinaga, Benry Fauna. Daniel Grey and Austyn Sullivan.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Creative people are never going to “fit in.” We’ve never been in the box. We need patience, grace and time to process things in a different way. Sitting still can be hard. At least it is for me.
Sometimes I think my brain works through things in a very odd way, I’m not “normal”. I try to figure things out creatively all the time, as I was never “formally “educated” in a academic sense, however, do I know I’m intelligent…. That formal piece of paper pushes curators far ahead in many ways. I’ve never gotten that degree, but heck, Who knows what the future will bring – anything is possible, this much I know.
The way I make my life work might look obscure from the outside, but that’s ok. I know what I’m up to, and I usually have a plan. Part of my plan is to help other people evolve with me.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to show you art that has a message. To help you feel something. To spread news. To make you feel raw. To show you a path to something relatable or to open your eyes to something that you might have otherwise missed.
To me, artists are teaches. Artists are visionaries. Artists are story tellers. Artists are reporters. I want to be that, and I want to fully support that.
We’re here to say something, not to just decorate your walls.
